Disappointment. Wanted to help John generate content and hunted up the box I thought was Ravenswood ... and it's not ... not close. I KNOW I have a supposedly Ravenswood package around here somewhere but since that wasn't it, I can't remember where I put it. grrrr.

Is it glass temperature and cooling rates? Is it something more complicated like the chemistry of the glass involved?

Well, I needed to find some blood-alley pictures today and couldn't easily find the ones I remembered having ... so I'm fixing part of that now! Here's the pic from that auction with the blood-alley on the right.

You mean how some onions look they they were built on top of another marble? And these aren't? I'm pretty sure you're okay with that. The inner layer is the backing (white or yellow?) which makes the main color stand out. It's right underneath the main color. Doesn't have to be anything in the middle.

Yes, in a general sense. I don't know if they have a better name. But yes. And they're pretty. I'm going to move this to the main forum to see if someone who knows ceramics better than I has a special name for them.

One inch? I was going to say no before I saw the size. I'll still say no, because I don't get an MFChristensen feel from it. But now I don't have a guess for what it could be. Not at that size. Interesting and pretty though.

I also get a newer feel from it. Maybe Jabo ....

I do love itty bitty clearies. I got some in my Christmas stocking when I was 12. I probably like the bigger marbles for running on a marble machine. I guess I like control. The little ones are like swarms of insects. Crazy. Where is this one set up?

I think Peltier Multicolor Rainbo on the left. I'm torn between Peltier and Marble King on the right. It's too bad about the damage. If Peltier that's a desirable color combination. I don't see enough ribbons for Peltier though. That's one reason to show as much of the seams as possible -- so that it's easy to count ribbons and see how they join. All I'm seeing is three ribbons on the right so far instead of four, and that's why I'm thinking maybe MK instead of Peltier. Unusual color either way.

Vacor on the left. The right looks vintage. Something about the ribbons made me hope for Peltier but I'm not seeing the seams I want to see, so I'd probably put it with the West Virginia Swirls.

Why is it that lemonade uses artificial flavors, when dish soap uses real lemons? This thread is so soapy that suds are coming out of my computer.
