  1. Yes, I love it. Congratulations. I peeked at this one while I was on sabbatical and I so wanted to say something but I had to get my work done.
  2. Yeah ... Pelt sounds good.
  3. What Al said. O_o
  4. Yes. Edit #1: Technically. Edit #2: Maybe. I think that modern collectors like to have the base me at least a little translucent. However, I think that Pelt could have sold that one in a Bloodies box. The main thing I wonder about is the shade of the red. That looks a little orangey to me in the photo and I'm a little fuzzy on what range of shades might have been in a Bloodies box. Moving this one to the main chat area also, since it's more of a name question. We have the Pelt part down. Now it's time for technicalities.
  5. I think too cloudy to be in the Sunsets. I think I would have it with my Bloodies. Hmmmm ..... Moving this one to the main chat area for the Pelt name people to maybe weigh in on. Maybe they'll say Bloodie Sunset is really a thing.
  6. First thought Champion. Second thought Alley.
  7. I'll say Peltier Rainbo. I wouldn't rule out any nice condition Pelt Rainbos being worth a dollar give or take to the right person. I don't know that this base would increase the value above that of an average Rainbo.
  8. "Transparent Swirl". I think most people leave it at that. It's in the West Virginia Swirl family, even though there is a small chance it was made in Missouri, not WV.

    Pelt? #80

Vitro. Sometimes called a "Transparent Whitie". In the Tiger Eye family.

Don't see CAC. First thought Alley but the swirls are a little loose so that made me think maybe Champ. Hard to say sometimes with what are essentially single color marbles.
  11. What Winnie said. I'm leaning Akro because of the seams and because of most of the color being on one end.
  12. Here's an earlier pic I took of my strange stone which looks just like a gumball in hand. Folks decided it was bloodstone.
  13. Well, it's a slag. I would guess Akro.
  14. I have heard of DeGraffenreid. I think Ann and Dave have some of his. With three people talking about him, maybe it's time I started learning more. I'll pull out my little collection of stones and maybe I'll get a picture of it. Anything could happen.
  15. People have spoken of Akro having different machines for at least two different sizes. With experimental marbles run on the machines for the larger size.
  16. I kinda sorta remember them getting marble-related help after the war. My working theory is still that the transitionals were pre-war. And then we have the jump from transitionals, whenever they were, to cat's eyes in the early 50's. I love this topic.
  17. The flying monkey looks dejected about losing that marble.
  18. If I recognized that structure I would have tried to make a joke about how much clear that akro astronomical sighting was in that country. Foiled again by my lack of culture!
