  1. Little box. Five 5/8" slags. https://morphyauctions.hibid.com/lot/17754888/christensen-assorted-agate-no--10-box-set
  2. For Akro, the Moss Agates came in patches, corks and swirly almost corks. Aces and Prize Names were a different kind of marble -- and pretty sure Aces didn't come that big. Collectors sometimes blur the names these days. Here are some big Moss Agates in their box.
  3. Sure. I've missed them too. :) Pick a color!
  4. 22 mm? So pretty big. Not familiar with transparent based Alley's that large, but at that size, Alley is a good guess. Wouldn't call it a Furnace Swirl. I'm only familiar with the Furnace Swirl name in connection with Champion.
  5. Hi Eggie. That red and yellow is pretty cool. Not sure I've seen one like it. The Akro name for all three would have been Moss Agate. One of their most popular marbles.
  6. That's the episode .... Milland was in one other episode of Columbo. I liked this one best.

    Darn, they didn't do it.

C'mon Ducks, you can do it.
  9. ... not seeing the cow ...... Doh ... can't tell my left from my right .... now I see the one you mean.
  10. The dragon headboard from the movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith, made out of marbles.
  11. Was looking for something for the calendar and came across this: candles.
  12. What does the cover on your 250 box look like? Here's a 250 box from a 2008 Morphy sale which I labeled as 1946-ish. (A 1946 Playthings ad follows.)
  13. The green one is cooler than clay.
  14. Doesn't seem particular cool compared with either the glass or ceramic marbles in the same box with it. It has some spots where it's not perfectly rounded but I don't see what I would call facets. So even though it's still in my "old" box now, I'll probably move it soon to a separate box for more modern mineral spheres.
  15. My initial response is that Akro boxes came with different configurations of marbles over the years. In this ad it says, "52 of our synthetic moss agates". The patch-style moss agates are pictured. I'm pretty sure I've seen them posted with the fancier swirly moss agates, and maybe with corks, and maybe with moonies, and don't remember believing all of those to have been backfilled. And I think the number of marbles in the boxes may also have varied. (Edit: I think this particular ad page is from around 1934, but the picture might be from earlier in the 1930's.)
  16. Wouldn't buy. I don't recognize any marbles in that bunch which would make me get past the condition of the lot.
  17. Ray Milland and Peter Falk ... does it get any better than that?
  18. So what's the coldest you get in your part of the world?
  19. I just moved a lot of threads to Marble Friends Memorial. Since we start those threads in the main area and try to leave them for awhile it's easy to forget to move them. I did a search for "condolences" in hopes that would bring up threads which were missed. I got several. If you can think of any which still need to be moved, let me know. Same goes for threads which you'd like to see archived.
