  1. A 1938 letter mentioned a "root beer cleary" and a "3 line cleary". I don't know if I got a copy of the letter. (I may only have saved the autograph on the letter -- the autograph was from Berry Pink.) But these two marbles were being sold with it. There was question about whether the marbles actually came with the letter. But they fit the descriptions.
  2. Those are old pix from back when I knew how to use Photoshop to darken the background and make the glow pop in the picture like it does to the eye. I opened a recent version of Photoshop and couldn't figure out how to do the simplest things.
  3. Interesting combos! And the transitional ... that's a neat concept.
  4. I started to say vaseline glass, but other kinds of fluorescence are welcome too.
  5. Neat! Nice historical lot. The clears are intriguing.
  6. went googling for an interesting looking sulphide ... and now I'm trying to make out what it says on the base http://www.marblecollecting.com/marble-reference/online-marble-id-guide/sulphides/
  7. Yeah, I don't know how to count stages, but that's a beautiful combo.
  8. That's that country sounding group. Pleasant.

    Boulders

    Where did that show up?!
  10. Imitation? Is there a story behind those?
  11. That's some interesting information. Surprised by how closely a 1971 article meshes with we know now. (Not an exact match but still a modern-sounding rendition.) The two words which stand out to me are "blockbuster octopus". What a name!
  12. Cool. Some new ones to me there too. I'll add them to the list. 1971 aggies, allies, mibs, migs, clayies, kimmies, immies, Chinees, crockies, pot-eyes, Chinas, bolders, blockbusters, peewee's, peedabs, doughies, doughie, blockbuster octopus, cloudies, clearies, flinties, ringers, shooters, red moonstone?, blue candy stripes?, steelies, glassies, miggle, crockie, aggie, robin's eggs, red eyes, blackies (so many names, I possibly missed some) "red eyes" are described as rare and transparent "blackies" are described as "as dark as nighttime in a tunnel" Foreign terminology: gudes (Brazil), Torrah (Africa), bowls (England), bolitas (South America), "kicking the marbles" (China)

  14. Yes, what a wonderful one to have.
  15. I see what you're saying. I wondered about that too. That's still my best guess. Maybe some runs did have it. Michelangelo runs were different from year to year. Maybe Hurricane runs were also? Well, I really don't know. So I won't keep trying to convince you!
  16. You could upload them into a gallery album. Or if they're less than 450 kb apiece, upload them as attachments. If they're close to 450 without going over, you might need to make a separate post for each attachment. Or you could email them to one of us and we could do the work of hosting and posting.
