  1. It's alright. It's just not pleasant to link to the site of someone who despises us that much. I hope you understand. No offense intended to you. :-) For you, I hope the link worked.
  2. LOL. Why do people keep asking here when Kevin's site goes down? He has sworn that this board is going to go down in flames. Asking about his board here is like rubbing salt in the wound he has already perpetrated on us. But, um, yes, Stace, I think I do know. :-) lol. He seems to have changed his forum's address up a little. Try this: allaboutmarbles.com
  3. I thought I'd seen one like this recently in an oxblood discussion. I'm not sure where to look for it though. Not having good luck with search engines lately and haven't been saving pix like I used to, due to computer troubles. .... so how much do you trust yourself to be able to tell ox in hand?
  4. Hey Brian, your banana has three fans. Quote of the day: "I don't know Brian, but dancing bananas are awesome!!"
  5. Shooters, aggies, whatÂ’s this about?
  6. how do you decide which is which?
  7. Thanks as always, Nancy. Can hardly wait for your book!
  8. Good point Ann. Yeah they were mentioned in another thread and the emphasis here looks like it's on collectors (or their outerwear), but yeah, thanks for bringing the marble making pioneers into the thread. *thumbs up* Martin Christensen's greatgranddaughter (or other descendant) might even be able to be found for a presentation. I've seen a fairly recent article featuring one of his descendants.
  9. That's NLR, for "National Line Rainbo". Some time around the mid-30's Peltier changed their Rainbo style. Marbles made before the change have been seen in packaging with the "National Line" brand on them, so this earlier version is called National Line Rainbo. Marbles made after the change are called simply Rainbos.
  10. Ode to Brian's banana . . . coz I should be doing laundry.
  11. Kewl. Thanks. I think I'm seeing it. More Alleys to find!
  12. So are we seeing a clue about how those two colors - the orange and the green - behaved in the furnace? How hard it was for the color batches to mix, or how easy it was for them to separate . . . or sumpin.
  13. Brown? I see a brown band on the side of the ribbon but some looks like brick. Is it possible we are looking at ox? edit: oh now I see you mentioned ox in the subtitle. sorry for missing that before. I'll suggest Alley, but mostly to start the conversation rolling. Do you happen to recall what was said about them in the main chat? If no one else replies here maybe I'll send it over to there.
  14. I'm so sorry. I wish I saw them. I'm actually crying. You're always so fun. Where was everyone? I know. I know what we were paying attention to. Man, we owe you.
  15. :( :( :( I missed this thread somehow. I don't know how. Now I feel totally sick that no one replied.
  16. Suhweet! Any handmade I found in the dirt would make me do cartwheels, but there are some really nice ones there! Love that wide-banded multicolor jasper. (that's what that is, right? in the middle pic?)
  17. Here are the first six inductees again: Spring 2010: Berry Pink Roger Howdyshell Beri Howdyshell Fox David McCullough Howard "Hod" Powell Dan Grocki
  18. I stand by my thought that your marble is not a small version of a parrot. Looks like a different family. Parrots are from the 50's, if I understand correctly. Your marble might be from the 30's. If it is, then it is special in a different way from parrots. imho.
  19. Yep, size is the issue for a lot of the discussions. Your marble doesn't look to me like the same family though. Some might call it a parakeet, but it doesn't really look like a small parrot to me. Make sense? So I would shy away from the name. Yours looks like it could be older. Elite might be what some other collectors would call it. I shy away from that name also, but it might apply.
  20. Other quotation from Ron, dedicated to Mr. Lemon of Vitro.
  21. Oooh, actually Ron does mention parakeets here. I mainly remembered this one for the size discussion, about Mr. Lemon of Vitro saying the goal was a 1" marble. But 3/4" and up would count. I have another classic quote also referencing Mr. Lemon. I'll get that next. I'll be putting it 2nd because it's longer but it's actually the most referenced quotation.
  22. LOL. I mean I would like to see a couple of different pix, on a different background. And then I still won't know but I'll know I don't know. Yeah, THAT's what I mean by "contemporary". lol
  23. I'll go get Ron's descriptions of Parrot. They're historically based. Parakeets - I think they might mean different things to different people. Well, what doesn't? But parakeets maybe more than some other names mean different things to different people. Be right back.
