  1. The hot water test is less destructive. Bakelite has a distinctive chemical smell after you've let hot tap water run over it.
  2. Awwww how sweet . . . about the lizard I bought you! sorry to bust that illusion. Now I want to get you a lizard! But Parrot lizard sounds good too! Um, no, different name. But same birthday! So if you know mine, you know theirs! lol sorry for playing coy. Will let 'em give their name. or not. :-) :-)
  3. Ah. no. I know who that is. We're a lot alike. :-)
  4. Maybe the mailman kep it. The one I just found in my box doesn't have green. On the other hand, I forgot that I had any micas. Until I found 3 in my handmades box.
  5. Me? Of course I'd okay you to post it. I didn't remember getting my lone parrot from Canada though. I'm hunting for my bird now. Where did I put it!
  6. Even more recognition. Gotta love it! This one was a segment on TV news. Check out the video. There's a few seconds of sharp marble action which left me wanting to see more. Plus a touching interview. Very sweet. Action News 6abc.com
  7. Are you saying none in that superman run had aventurine? Some of Bo's examples, presumed to be from that run, have been the topic of much conversation because they do have aventurine.
  8. Been looking at Jabo bricks. So far haven't found any close enough to try to fool anyone with. Still hunting. :-)
  9. If you put it up for ID outright one of my first questions would be about what size it is. But then after you told me, if you told me 5/8" for instance, I'd have to go do some research to see how many 5/8"-ers would have been made like this. Still under the impression that most Jabo runs in the last coupla years were 3/4", but not sure about that anymore. Have lost track.
  10. because you believed it to be Alley. Is it still Alley?
  11. Yup, pretty sure Alley, coz you posted it before. And yup, I mighta suspected Jabo if you hadn't said otherwise.
  12. Yes, I understood single vs. multi-stream about how Galen described it. I thought part of Fiedler's genius was his skill in choosing glass which could melt together in that single receptacle but not blend. So that the colors would stay distinct when they came out the other end in the single stream.
  13. If that is so, then this is a new concept to me. I thought that Christensen flames were single-stream marbles.
  14. So so cute. Congrats Gampie. Hehe, BJ's a Gampie. Hehe. Adorable.
  15. Jabos and Ravenswoods might be a good place to look for similar appearance examples. But the same problem comes up. Will those who collect Ravenswoods have that many Jabos to place next to 'em for comparison photos? Eneeway, here's page 2 of a favorite link, with a response at the end there from dink1111 about how they're gonna have to look through their Jabo mountain to see if there were any Ravenswoods in it.
  16. A newbie might consider it educational. Sue's not-cork. Your corks. It might not be the lesson David was daring us to try to teach. But it might still be educational if approached in a positve spirit. I'd think about adding some examples but as I said in that other thread, the examples I have right now are ones which go the other way. They're non-Jabos which I was told were Jabos. I still could try to get a pic of the special runs which I think look like Champion furnace mibs! LOL. But I guess those wouldn't apply either. Champion furnace mibs aren't vintage, are they?
  17. Edna, Sue said, "Those who really know their Akro probably wouldn't flinch... But, some others might." You know your Akro. Your mibs show why you wouldn't need to flinch. But a wishful newbie could get thrown by the one Sue posted. I don't think this thread is necessarily meant to conform to David's specs. Not many people have both Jabos and the vintage ones which might match them. I actually tried to save pairs like that, starting about my 2nd year of collecting. But I got tired of it by about my 4th. At that point I didn't need the comparisons anymore. Wish I'd kept 'em now. Woulda been fun.
  18. Thank you David. Here's the link, by the way. Now I'm off to read it . . . again. Your articles have been one of my favorite resources since I discovered them. Champion Agate Co.
  19. David, you wrote the following. Galen posted Jabo marbles side by side with vintage marbles. I will trust that he did not touch up the photos. Even if what Galen posted were bupkis, you'll have a tough time justifying the sarcasm to most of us (imho). If you don't like the thread, you can move on. That is a common refrain in connection with Jabo threads. A commonly ignored refrain, but still good advice.
  20. Galen said equal mix. 4 & 4? I'm stymied.
