  1. They both look delicious. Quiet Christmas here! And happy about it. Even with a friend who surprised us with a visit ... still quiet ... as he is sleeping in the livingroom right now and I'm typing here in the dark.
  2. So nice to see you are still inspired to build! And still inspiring me. Love this idea.
  3. What percentage of the Kokomo ID's that you see do you actually believe in? There are some very standard Kokos. And then there are all the rest. I see people seeking Koko ID's and often getting them based on as little as a shade of red as it appears on a computer screen, for example. And I wonder how much people on both sides of the ID really believe it. The hopeful people with the marble or the helpful people with the ID. My thought is that I don't feel at all comfortable putting a "might be Koko" marble in the same container as my "pretty darn sure these are Koko" marbles. I don't feel so strongly any more about, say, Marble Kings which look like Vitro All-Reds. They can go together. But Kokos I still feel strongly about. I get the feeling that a lot of people take "might be Koko" as "good chance Koko" and then feel comfortable putting it in their pretty-darn-sure Koko cabinet without any explanatory notes. This seems to be a shift from when I started collecting, when for example I got praise from Chuck Brandstetter for biting my tongue whenever I kinda sorta wanted to bring up "might be Koko" in an ID. The lesson I got from him was that "might be" should be translated as "probably not" and then the marble should be put in some other cabinet and the K-word should never be uttered again. There are few people whose Koko ID's I trust, and even with those people I'd feel better if they were able to say they got their similar marbles from a Kokomo dumpsite or the estate of a Kokomo employee, or something as nice as that.
  4. I made a brief search for my tans to see what variety I had. Then I gave up ... for the time being. But here are my Imperial pics that I took for the seams thread.
  5. Gladys, I understand why you thought foreign. A lot of the color fits, especially that peachy tan. And there's a bit of spidering at the cutlines. But I don't know. That's a whole lot of color and a whole lot of texture change for the tan Imperials that I suspect you're thinking of.

    Vitro ?

    I'd also guess Vitro.
  7. .... and lots of condition issues in the vintage
  8. Yup ... lots of Vacors in there too for that "random mix".
  9. I think the larger one is a Marble King cat's eyes. Not sure what to make of the normal-sized ones. Due to not being able to see a distinct vane or swirl structure, I'm currently leaning Jabo.
  10. Wow! What a wonderful project. I enjoy my small garden in my small backyard. I've been doing it for five years now. So I know a _little_. Very basic.
  11. We have a marvelous LOW tech antenna for local TV. A tall one attached to the house by the man who lived here since the house was built in 1951, until 5 years ago when he entered a rest home. I have been quite happy with the local networks plus the several bonus channels each one provides with presumably inexpensive syndicated series. There are also a couple of different companies' little satellite dishes attached to the roof but we don't bother with those. I am sure I will learn to love Roku also. It has long been recommended by a friend who is into old movies. It just takes me some time to ease into these things. I only got my first cellphone a few months ago. I mostly use that as a camera to take cat pictures. I made a couple of vet-related phone calls on it also. And now I carry it around "for emergencies". No apps for me!
  12. Last night my husband hooked us up to Roku. Now I can stream on the TV! (*shudder* I'm actually afraid of the thing, but I'll ease into it. So anyway!) He showed me this cartoon episode on the Amazon Prime channel that he had told me about earlier but I hadn't looked up yet even though it was about marbles. (Because I also don't like streaming on the computer.) But here's the title in case you want to look it up. "Pete the Cat" Finders Keepers & The Honkening (TV Episode 2020) - IMDb After he went to bed and I tried to find my way around the Roku and messed it completely up, I switched back over to plain TV. Just in time to see Cousin Itt swallow Gomez Addams' prized marbles. So that was fun.
  13. Your family garden? Is that the inspiration for your new screenname?
  14. If only I could do photoshop, I would have some bees enjoying a honey amber banana.
  15. Peltier would be high up on my list of choices here.
  16. I am leaning toward Vitros which weren't all quite the same as what was sold in the U.S. Somewhere along the way I got the impression that Vitro's exports didn't always fit into the lines they sold at home. But I'm with Art on sorting them as Vitro and marbling on. I have a bunch of patches which could be a mix of Vitros, MKs and Akros that I doubt I'll ever sort out. I don't feel an urge to sort them anymore. So they'll probably still be together whenever I die and my husband sends them to the Goodwill store.

    Estate find

Akroorka's suggestion to wrap individually in tissue is good. I have tiny ziplock baggies for individual packaging but tissue would certainly work. Then I personally would probably put them in a sandwich baggy, and then I would wrap the baggy snuggly in bubble wrap. I'd encircle it with tape to help make it more snug. It sounds like Art would cinch it more tightly than I would. I go more for snug than tight. Then I'd wrap with more bubble wrap, making sure I have at least 1/2" of cushiony clearance between all sides box and the sides of my marble bundle, including top and bottom of course.
