Hi. I like it. Okay, he's my 2 cents. I think it was cullet marble, ground down to get this marble freed from the surrounding glass. Picture 1 shows the glass going in 2 directions, and it has that marble (layer) look to it. Plus the airholes that would be present in cullet glass..... Is there a cut line? Like I said I like it, and if you like it, it's all good. Thanks for sharing!!!!

I agree HTF. Sorry some look out of round, I tilted the camera when I was trying to get rid of those hairs...(not sure if I'm liking that background) -5/8" and hard to photograph. Has a lot of color.

Akro, yes; but not a pop-eye. Missing the clear and whispy white between 2 or more colors. Can you take a back light picture of it. I would like to see that. Does it black lite? I like the eye lashes on it. Thanks for sharing!!

I vote Rainbow as well. via 'marblealan.com' Peltier Rainbos, the descendants of the National Line Rainbos, appear to have been first manufactured in the late 1930s and throughout the following decade. Composed of less brilliant glass, they were probably a response to a declining marble market and a need to reduce production costs. Like their predecessors, these marbles have two seams. They may have a base glass that is either opaque or transparent, and usually one or two ribbons that encircle the marble, usually near the center. Unlike on the National Line Rainbos, the ribbons on Rainbos often go into the base glass, whereas on the former they lie on and perhaps just underneath the surface. National Line Rainbos, which were produced as early as the late 1920s and up to the late 1930s. All National Line Rainbos will exhibit two seams, which differentiates them from the earlier Miller swirls. Most have an opaque base, though some are semi-opaque or translucent. The design will consist of "ribbons" of opaque to transparent color. There will be one or more colors represented on the ribbons, and usually there will be four or six ribbons present. Nice marble...All the one's I've owned always had a hairline when backlit....

It's not Scott. I'd like to see some of those PD marbles, I've been going thur my books and don't really see anything on them. Maybe in another thread..... EDIT: Okay maybe I found some. Are these this type. Pictorial Price Guide of Marbles, by Robert Blook (blue cover) Page 38? getting back to CallBob.. Since he states he likes to travel and all. Hate to be at a marble show if he was "having a bad day" Something to think about. See too much of this stuff on the evening news.

One thing I've noticed about these China Marbles is the banding at the top and bottom. The vintage ones have two (2) band then the painting is framed just above and below them. The newer/modern ones have one band - painting - two bands. Seems to be a patteren. Look at the earlier example of the modern one, same thing. Post #20 and #21 Nice Avatar CallBob
