  1. We bought this in Sistersville...not quite 13/16ths...min AV, paid 250.00.
  2. Morphy's just sold one with a grey eagle-ish bird on it...don't recall what it sold for.
  3. unfortunately we did not have much extra spending money as we just spent some time in Nashville on vacation. I was at a women's Bible conference all day in Hershey, so my loving Hubby went up a picked me up a few new goodies. He said the items almost all sold for under; way under what was expected. Got a blue gooseberry and a black clambroth.
  4. Remember doing this as a kid. "fried marbles"...was a craft item that you them made jewelry with.
  5. We are birders as well....binoculars are always in the car! We had 2 pileated woodpeckers in our yard last year and boy do they love stumps! Lost some trees during storms and the stumps remain. They are huge and look prehistoric whey they fly. SInce our yard has grown up, we do not have bluebird s anymore..they are beautiful little birds!
  6. Hi All, Went to the Frederick show yesterday and have some pix to share. It was a small show, about 13 vendors and about 5 of them had older mibs. Great vendor named Tim Ambler from upstate NY..he let us hang out at his table, and show/sell mibs..a real nice guy. Best of all was meeting up with forum members Skyler (skycollect) and Wade (wadeley). These guys had some great marbles to share and sell. As this was a fundraiser for the Frederick Knucklers, there was lot to do and see for kids. It was a fun day!
  7. My error..didn't realize these mibs were on ebay and not owned by you.
  8. These are both gorgeous marbles...you should both be proud to own them!
  9. Lovely...minty green and ready for spring!
  10. Can't be 100% sure from the pix, but it looks like a divided core with english colors. I think the red caged lines might make it a it more valuable as they are not as common.
  11. Reminds me a little of the boardwalk arcade game, "skee-ball"
  12. I was at that Morphy sale and was afraid to even "touch" that marble...it was killer indeed.
  13. My husband Mark and I will be there...it's only about an 1 1/2 hrs from home. We will have to try and pick a location and time that everyone going will be there so we can say "hi" and put a face to these names!
  14. It's got the colors of a black line all red...perhaps just a messed up version
  15. Beautiful cabinet..what a wonderful spot to house all your marbles!
  16. I think this type is called a "shrunken core", where the lobes do not come up to the surface.
  17. That green mib looks new and foreign...Oh, and about pet peeves; Ebay marbles with only 1 picture to view!!
  18. Thanks Jeeperman..appreciate the education. There's always something new to learn with this hobby! I really do like sparklers too..the cost is getting SOOOOO high!

    Dat Sound!

I am very in tune with the sound of marbles clicking together! When we go to auctions, I can hear that distinct "click" across a noisy auction floor....think it's some kind of weird survival instinct at this point in time; I would die without the ability to "hunt" for marbles! Auctions have been dismal lately
  20. I have never heard the term "burnt sparkler before. Do they have a specific definition, or are they the ones pictured above that have a lot of brown?
  21. Here is a pic of my husband and I. I started off collecting handmades, but now I buy what "speaks" to me at the time. I appreciate all kinds of marbles. He loves Vitro helmets and contemporaries, and is now leaning toward Pelts...my marble habit has rubbed off on him I'm afraid.
  22. I think it would look much better in MY hand, don't you  !
