  1. Yes Ric I agree, they are Jabo, I just came back to change my reply and you beat me to it, a little to structured for Vitro's. I looked closer and theres even some green av. in the middle one, what was I thinkin ?? Sorry for the miss I.D. Sonoran.
  2. All three look Vitro to me !! ( NOT ) I'll just hide so you'll never know who gave the reply
  3. I have a large collection of handmades, and yes the prices on the ones 1.5 & 2.5 are holding but even the high mint smaller ones I have, have lost a little in value, no matter to me I like them just the same, a lot of hard work and actual attention to detail is instilled in them. Manmade not pumped out by the millions by a machine but by human hands, from the creation of the glass to the stretching of the canes as prep just to make the marble, I have a great appreciation for all marble makers, hot, sweaty, hard work even at the newer manufacturers.
  4. Good one Ron, if his cloud has any size to it he'll do ok but there is a little wear damage, looks like some pitting & pins from the pic, but like you said Ron, if it's over an inch it'll still fetch a decent price.
  5. first one looks like master, second looks like an Akro slag ??
  6. I was trying to find out why the crow doesn't appear in the 1931 magazine ad when they already had went through all the trouble to get the crow trademark in 1911 ?? Seems like that would have been a main selling point, middle of the great depression and Akro had already built a good name as far as mibs went ?? just wondering why the different trademark when they went to all that trouble to get the crow in the first place if they weren't going to make sure they used it, especially in a sales ad ?? just kind of puzzling to me !! Yes I've seen the new Akro red boxes and marbles they're putting in them. Where are they getting the marbles to fill the boxes?? not making them themselves, the marbles look foreign made to me ??
  7. E.O.D. Cloud, little on the rare side, what's the size on it Ric ?? Most of them where below an inch.
  8. Did some more diggin on the Akro trademark in the 1931 mag. add. In March 23 1911, the Akro Agate Co. applied for the Akro Agate Trademark. On Aug 22, 1911 it was registered with the United States Government. Akro was in operation from 1910 thru 1951. just a little Akro history, I realize It still doesn't explain the 1931 ad, I'm still workin on that one, found this info on the trademark on the way.
  9. Better in focus a bit more, a 3 stage with solid green av. veins with sparkles of blue in it. Also a ribbon core with mica, only on one side but I have yet to find another like it. These marbles are all clean though the amount of bubbles may look like damage, none come to the surface or have popped, I believe the ribbon core ha slight pocket wear and 1 fleabite. This is also a 3 stage, pinkish red core w/ surrounding white lines and outer yellow and blue bands, an odd bird.
  10. Shure is boring here in the honeycomb hideout !!! Kinda empty !! I do believe I see spider webs beginning to form ?? " MARKO " ????
  11. I hope Bruce (Berryb) got at least that much out of all that babble I wrote !!
  12. The {MCSA} Google, "Marble Collectors Society of America" Bob Block runs the site, his phone # is right there if you have any questions, I've called him several times, yes in fact that is Bobs quote that's where I got the info : The 9 is" M.F. Christensen & sons "( The one with the seam you have is a " CAC" Christensen Agate Company ) the cut line Hansel is talking about in almost all of them is absolutely uh !! what "Welcome to the land of confusion" Like Steph, I don' know what to say !! Read this one Bruce, I still don't have everything straight in my head " marble overload " "Never mind" foiled by copywrite laws again, how do they expect us to ever learn, everyone wants to keep the information so they can make a buck on it, while we dig for scraps " ridiculous" I found a fantastic history of "MFC' akro and CAC but can't post the link because of copywrite laws. It's a couple pages long and explains everything. This sucks, I have so much to share but can't because of those stupid laws. I guess it's not the laws just the people who twist them to "their advantage" Sorry Bruce my hands are tied once again by the "constraints of copywrite laws" a long explanation "google" History of "MFC, CAC & Akro" if you look hard enough you'll be as confused as me, but you will find your answers. As you can tell I to am still a little lost on all this, "a small brain for so much info " I would like to just post a couple links but then that wouldn't be right. Maybe someone else could explain it in shorter order, or better than me, the history is quite extensive with a lot of dates involved.
  13. Courtesy of {MCSA} "Marble collectors Society of America" Many different Persian marbles, can be confusing, you just have to make sure there is provenance behind your claim or state that it's "your opinion" so much information is being exposed and has yet to be exposed, believe me Tommy I'm learning just like you. It is "Never ending " that's part of the fun is the research !! I could keep going but have to leave something for you, "Christensen" not MFC, also made some very rare Persians "have fun " you'll find them also if you dig, all have the Persian base. I've seen these on Ebay and they just sit because nobody knows what they are, and it seems everyone is looking for the "flashy" mibs.
  14. Here are some "MF Christensen & sons Persians" from right here on the forum, show and tell, no oxblood but still have the Persian base glass
  15. No !! The one I have pictured is an "MFC Persian oxblood" just slipping it in to show one of many manufacturers that made a rendition with the Persian base color. Sorry to confuse, this marble has the "9" on one end Bruce was talking about.
  16. This was the Granddaddy of Persian Oxbloods for me, I used to have one in my collection for years, there's no other mib I have ever owned with the same color, I had no I.D. for years, a very early MFC Persian oxblood. I haven't seen this pic for some time & it's probably the only one you'll be able to find of it online. Just a pic of a very rare mib for you to look at, a puzzle for many years for me. The marble I had was a duplicate to this one, I hadn't seen this picture in 12, 15 yrs. before the other day, for all I know it's the same one I owned ?? A beautiful marble, also small, maybe 5/8ths, I remember it well, you don't forget one that looks like this. At least that's the old school I.D. of this one, if changed or provenance has differed other than what I have, please feel free, I'd like to hear anything on this one you have !! Realizing almost every manufacturer had there own rendition of this color, this and the Christensen are the two brightest ones I've ever seen.

    Akro?

"Good job Tommy "on finding that post. Like the mibs you have there are abstract examples of everything, "excellent job hunting this one down"

    Akro?

A picture of some vacor orca marbles. Look at the one in the lower right hand corner,& a few of the others with the red tinge, slightly familiar,
  19. X2, "Alley Coral" all the way, nice clean example Good pix, great neutral background. You won't believe it when you find the correct bulb or "bulbs" my pics are still improving. Some fantastic picture taking tutorials on this forum
  20. Several I have with a pistachio like base glow also, I'm sticking them with the rest of my alleys,. only two where it was a toss up between Alley and ravenswood anyway, thinks for the added info "Ron"
  21. Chad G.

    Akro?

A cheap point and shoot with "macro" should do you nicely !! And a neutral background, one without reflection or light refraction will stop the excess glare and reflections on the glass. Your first few backgrounds were perfect.
  22. Chad G.

    Akro?

They Definitely look newer, I am unfamiliar with them so maybe wait for another to chime in. Definitely "not Akro" and "not Peltier" The little bit of purple tinge I see in both still reminds me of Vacor glass. There is no discernable structure to these mibs, so I am unable to make an I.D.
  23. Great, I had them in the right place except the dark tan base w/ the darker brown swirl, which I thought where ravenswood, either way, "thanks for the post Sonoran and for the I.D's Ron" saved me posting all those mibs and fighting the pic. resizer for the I.D. of one marble.
  24. I'm waiting jut like you, I'm not so good on these swirls, a good few I believe are ravenswood, but I'll wait for someone else to chime in. I know I have quite a few of each one you have represented, finally I will be able to put a name to the face, instead of a large jar of unknown W.Va.
  25. Chad G.

    Akro?

"not a nova" I have several and they all have the classic pelt defined, cutlines on each side of the mib and at each end of the two ribbons. This is one of mine, at 15/16ths, every one locks like this or very close to it in construction, though the colors do vary greatly, all have the classic pelt design, no swirling, these were a later pelt marble, a one day run, sometime in 1988 along with the so called root beer floats, they say all larger marbles but I have seen these down to 11/16ths.
