Not so common I don't believe, a yellow snake in yellow bubbly champagne like base glass. I know it's not Friday but I'm close. I have a good one for tomorrow, it's hard to wait but wait I will.

Hello Roby, Yes, all original German w/ the green glow when a uv. light applied. I used to have between 20 & 30 before I sold my collection in 09. I can say without a doubt in "my mind" these are orig. Germans. All of these are pictured in Stanley Blocks book of sulphides and are well known common sulphides. None of the double and triple or copied California's have the glow. Here's another better pic. of a few. Two different running rabbits a frog and a pig. The light spots are just reflections, these are in A no. 1 shape. I'll try and get a group pic of them glowing, a more subtle glow in most cases than a newer ade marble but never the less a uv. glow. I included a couple singles of the pig and a donkey for I.D. purposes, Both clean examples and both are pictured in Blocks book, the same with the others. After I bought the little rabbit I read a write up on original sulphides, the uv. glow and the California copies, so I purchased a Battery powered hand held UV. light and yes!! it glowed, a lucky, "driving blind" purchase at that point. That donkey is huge, over 2 1/4 inches, you can see the size difference in the first display pi. I was raised on a farm in Oregon so all of these bring back some treasured thoughts and memories from my childhood. AS far as your "question" Roby if you read Marble Alans statements on sulphides, every positively German I.D. sulphide glowed and the unidentifiable or double and triples that showed in the 80's and 90's did not, so sulphides yes, German no. They've done some electron microscope pics of the surface glass in the past and found definite differences in the two types of glass.

Great pics, yes I found a tripod a necessity, even your heart beat can make for a fuzzy pic, all the time I get lazy and try to go free hand and after several attempts I finally get it. Generally speaking I only use the tripod for a large group of pics! but yes a definite plus, when I bought my tripod it cut hours into minutes. Thank you for the pictorial Jess, That lens was well worth the money 10 times over, at least. Oop ! another pic, I'll stick with the uv. Ade glass this time. Chad G.

A block of some old goodies, I know you like corks Jess, all but one a limeade swirl. Second row down, second in from L to R

Agreed on the dark colors Steph, some of mine look identical color wise, Alleys to boot but not all glow, I have mine in with the others anyway you can't tell until you throw uv light on them.

Endless !! A great fit and one up on me also, man I gotta get one of those clip on macros, their incredible,. By the way exactly how close can you get with that or should I say how much will it magnify something, just a little off subject question ?? here's a pic just to stay in step. One to light the way in this Christmas season.

There's a lot of people on every buying and selling platform trying to get you to believe what they have is what they say, when they know it's not. I wish people could just be more honest and forthright. 5 minutes of research will generally tell you what you have or at least give you a good idea, if you're selling something and don't know "say so" The people bidding generally know what their throwing their money at you would think ??. Everyone is out for the money, kinda takes the fun outa this hobby. I'm very glad for places like this where we can all come to learn, share info, make friends and have a little fun while were at it. So many bad posts and outright scamming going on. Ah that's enough outa me, I guess it's buyer beware like always.

I've had several Chrissy electric yellow slags and the yellow color is inside and out, some with a lot of white some you could barely detect. It just looks external in the pic because of the window in it. Many of my yellow electrics had white on the outside and inside, I'm sure under a different light yours will turn out to be electric yellow also Bruce. I grabbed these examples from all over, my old ones my friends, Ebay, where ever I could find some really good examples. Hang on a sec I'll post an electric w/ white in it. Sami just sold this one the other day, white doesn't qualify or disqualify it as being electric, it's the color of the yellow. A slag will always have color outside and inside like yours and the yellow above and the one in the pic below. I believe you have an electric mib Bruce I was just posting multiple examples so you could get a good idea on electric colors. I traded the last 5 Christensen I had last month, I guess I got burned out on them. Going with Pelt and some newer Dichro. Heck some of these marbles I'd have to save for 6 months to buy, way out of my price range.

x2 no Christensen, congrats on the nice Alley pistachio excellent swirling pattern !! Christensen's in any form are getting very hard to come by, once you see and hold a layered sand in your hand you will never forget what they look like, a very rare marble and VVVHTF (very very very hard to find ) "kudos" for the guess, just throw it out there, the worse you can be is wrong and when you learn what it is it will not easily be forgotten. All the marbles I guessed wrong on in the past are now well remembered.

A pic from one sold on mibbage's old site another Christensen submarine, closely resembling the other but smaller at 39/64 and a slightly lesser pattern. Still a very rare marble in any shape or size. Another fantastic example of a wet mint marble and electric colors. Another view of the same mib Ebay sale Ebay Ebay hand gather Christensen, a little on the rarer side Ebay

I have re acquired some of the sulphides I had but nothing like before. Hard to get a clean sulphide the glass is very soft in these old single gather marbles. Two of these don't even have a fleabite, I prefer the commons, you can usually find a clean one if you look long enough. These where the first type of hand mades I started collecting. With Pelts being the first machine made, as far as the Pelts, I didn't even know who made them I just liked their design and colors.

Those dull shears sure left some nice dark lashes on this one, a multi directional blinking beauty Outstanding example !!

I always think back to who, when, why and what got me started collecting marbles. Maybe not seriously but the first time I was interested. I posted this marble on another thread already but this was my introduction to marbles that later led to a lifelong hobby. First mib was from Mom at age 10. Later in life during my first marriage in the late 80's it got serious , a friend of mine showed me a sulphide collection he had, I bought a running rabbit. When I showed my baby brother was enthralled, he called them picture marbles, I was "bit hard" and I haven't quit yet. These 2 mibs have made it through many years and a sale of nearly my whole collection in 2009. My first mib was from my Mom, an aqua slag I've had for 47 year's. This is also the only one she had left from her child hood. I bought the rabbit sold it and rebought it from the same person since my original purchase of it in the late 80's. I guess good memories go a long ways as to placing a value on something. As for the friends I've made along the way !! there are things that can't be bought.

Out of all the Christensen I've ever seen, that would be the one I would have no problem owning but the cost was way out of my realm at the time, I can only imagine the money it would bring now, yeah that ones a whopper alright Chuck. Guess I could've made payments ? nah !! A one in a million accident for sure, at that price I'll stick to pics. I had the marble in hand when he still owned it, and as in any mib these pix do it no justice.

I have an Akro patch with the same color scheme as your last one Bill or I never would have recognized it as Akro in a million years, I lucked out on that I.D. 😓
-
Well those lighters lasted a total of about 10 seconds, their gone !! Maybe if you Emailed them a mess. ?? but I doubt any left at this point.
-
It's called the "beggars hand" Jess, one of many tooth pic holders Akro made, I guess they waited till the cows where old and tough in those days, Akro made lots of different tooth pic holders, I'll take some pics of some more later. Be careful, Akro ware is highly addictive.

Thems some nice mibs Bruce !! The only one like those I have is the amber and yellow snake, and I consider it HTF.
