  1. I Can't really remember that well Ric, might have been one die, either way the same game, I think gramma even had an old aggravation box ?? Nice job man Tommy Don't quite know how I got two answers in one box ?? oh well ??
  2. Agree with Steph's guess, I'm gonna go with a strange lookin Akro Indian blanket on the right (corkscrew) & a messed up newer Vacor on the left.
  3. I used to play that every time we went to my grandmothers, I didn't recognize it because hers was on a piece of square plywood, but yes, you had to roll a pair of sixes or aces to get out of home then try to make it around the board to home without another players mib landing on yours, if they did it was back home you went. My whole family used to play it when I was a kid. Boy that sure brings back the memories. "Thanks again Brad"
  4. I like your new avatar Tommy!! I remember it well.
  5. Gonna look good no matter what you put in it Brad
  6. Space for 80 some mibs, it's a big un alright Brad !!
  7. WOW !! Nice board Brad, never seen one even close to being like it, maybe a different take on solitaire ?? maybe multiple player ?? Somebody here knows "Good score"
  8. x 2, I will agree with Ric on Ravenswood, my first guess also. I also agree with "notoriously tricky" since so many companies made their own rendition. By the way, your pix are lookin fantastic in focus, great neutral background, multiple views, excellent, better than mine !!
  9. x 2, great short conveyance, thanks I'llhavethat1, I tend to be long winded in my explanations, correct on all counts. Yes' & truly refreshing to see some hand mades, between me, Ron, & I'llhavethat1 this will be the 3rd post I've seen showing some, excellent, some beautiful eye "candy" for sure.
  10. Glad to see you repost that mib,, I had almost forgotten all about it, two refreshers in one night, your smokin Ric !!
  11. Actually I was relieved to hear a good joke, and you certainly got me good on that one Ric.
  12. I remember this marble, I miss I.D. it as Christensen, they are Alley, I talked to Ron about mibs like these and for years until provenance was proven I had some just like them in with my Christensen's, the similarities are uncanny.
  13. "Thanks Tommy" I love em, Dave does some killer work, like I said PM me and I'll give you his Email if you like ?? there are loads of other types he makes to your specifications, colors, sizes you name it. He's got some calligraphy's in the works right now I requested, I've seen some he's already done and am blown away, I'd show you the pics of some earlier ones he made, but will wait till he has mine done & boxed to share. thank you for the compliment, I shared this post with him earlier today after he sent the pix of the finished boxes.
  14. Here is a link to a thread I posted right here showing my favorite type of hand made, the Josephs coat, I used to have nearly 400 of these at near or over 1" very hard to find this type at and over 1" . Many of them and these have "aventurine" in them, here's the link from right here on the forum. You will learn the difference between these, onionskins & coreless and the others as you move foreword, many members here also have an affinity for old Germans. Remember if you have any questions just post them someone will chime in and even if they don't know the answer they will direct you or someone who will help in your direction. "Steph" is the moderator here and has helped me countless times. Again "Welcome" I have acquired may coats since that post & probably should add them to it. Chad G. 15. Translucent agate types are next, Both Dave and I have an affinity with for pelts and mostly Alley (sound familiar) I also have some Alley flame designs in the works with Dave. He's certainly the best at what he does I've found, using no layering or rounding machines, I enjoy his art., Alot of work goes into these little buggers, I tried to count the layers and got lost, I was flabbergasted when he said how many layers he put into those flames he made for me. I will eventually have some one inch but he likes the 13/16 the best they fit in his boxes perfect as well as being the most malleable size for his hands. I understand he's going to start up on AAM again with the same old avatar as before. I told him the buy sell trade was really picking up, he was on there today but still has a couple bugs he wants to iron out before he posts.
  16. Good grief Ric, I done been had again, you got me good my friend !! UGhh !! all that work for nill, oh well maybe someone else can glean both mib info and team color info from this post, a two fer.
  17. Good job preserving the box top, a most excellent way to display it
  18. Speaking of edible, I brought some nice bright ones like that in my pocket and pulled them out to show a shop owner what I was looking for and they replied "thanks I'm not hungry right now" they thought I had a handful of candy, I sure got a good snicker out of that one. They had to look twice at what I had in my hand, you don't see many in wet mint shape like you have anymore. The collectors of old German handmades are getting thinner and thinner, in the 90's when everyone else including me was chasing them the competition was quite hardy, and the prices for that time went quite high. "A nice set Neil & a good job preserving the box as well" provenance is important, excellent display, enjoy the space while you have it, strange how something so small can take up so much room. Whatever you do "Have fun" & again Welcome. You done been "bit" . I have at lest few hundred ranging in size from a little under 7/16ths to 2 3/4ths" and everything in between, these are all in the last 7-8 years, before 2009 I had over 1500 handmades alone, 400 of which were Josephs coats, my most colorful and still my favorite handmades to collect.
  19. Yes you have a few same cane pairs, and looking at the bright colors and unfinished pontils they all appear to be from the English game board (Victorian )era. The Germans made these for the English game boards. I had one that had as far as I know the original marbles to the set, all single color solid core, up to 6 of the same cane. the only lone ranger I had was a powder blue solid core,, just a sec I'll fetch some pics, here's a picture of the board and most of the marbles except the powder blue, most were between .67 & .73" one or 2 a little bigger and a little smaller. When they were all on the board you couldn't tell. The most in one cane I had was the yellow, almost identical but varied slightly in sizes & design, but definitely same cane. the last colors to the set, I can't find a pic of the powder blue finding this many from the same cane is extremaly difficult unless they came packed together as I believe these did. My favorite colors were the orange and the cayenne red. The powder blue was the 33rd mib I kept in the center I couldn't find a date but the box was indeed made in England A large board for it's time considering some of these marbles are close to .75 A board and set that for me was extremely hard to come by, had to be sacrificed in 2009 during a divorce I went through. Trying to find one then was hard enough, I can only imagine trying now. You have a very beautiful set Neil and the mibs look immaculate, well worth holding onto, a few with jellcor lots of black a few double razor ribbons I seen with the bright orange, "personally" I would hold onto all of them except maybe replace the latts. with some more nice ribbon cores the same size.
  20. Galaxy is blue, yellow with av. in the black, the wolverine has no black and no av. Peltier Wolverine courtesy of AAM Blue Galaxy, courtesy of Terry Middleton ( Grandpamarble)
  21. Hello & Welcome Neil Finally another German handmade lover. Appears to be 3 ribbon cores & one solid core. The bright colors and two unfinished pontils are an indicator to me of a manufacture date somewhere between 1880 & 1910. Most of these marbles were made for the English game board market during the Victorian era. The older mibs around 1850 - 1880 "usually" demonstrate faceting on one end and a melted pigtail on the other, sometimes melted to oblivion, there are exceptions I'm just speaking in general terms. Black is a rarer color, looks like you got a good clean set, only 4 latts. any same cane present ??
  22. Well the box sets are almost all completed one more to go, these are fantastic works of art that took Dave many hours to complete, we shared I told him what I liked and this is what he came up with. I am beyond satisfied. If you want his Email just PM me and I have his permission to give it out a few pix of the completed boxes he made for me. This first one is a representation of some pelts "wasp" "bumblebees" "blue galaxy" "golden rebel" all artist interpretations not meant to look like the actual mib but to represent it in form and color complete with av. in the black. A box of wasp and bumble bee flames also complimented with av. present in all the black, and another one of Dave's box designs A side by side of the two, I couldn't have asked for better work, a very happy camper I am. The mib size is around 13/16ths
  23. x 2, Both Akro, I agree very much with Ric on the lazy cork, very nice and clean, one of my "favorite" prize name color combos I have been granted permission by Bob Block, {MCSA} "Marble Collectors Society Of America" to use and share information from the site, a short definition of a corkscrew & qualifications. Hope this helps you a little, I've posted the entire thing on "Akro Friday" I've used definitions & info from this site many times. "A corkscrew need not make a full rotation to be considered a corkscrew. Thus a lazy cork. LINK : https://www.marblecollecting.com/marble-reference/online-marble-id-guide/akro-agate-co/
  24. Sorry folks, English was never my strong point in high school or college and as such I will more than likely continue misspelling words. I will try and watch it in the future so as not to confuse. "Thanks Al" I didn't realize there was a spelling difference.
  25. Yes, one and all "Pelt Rainbows" Good job Tommy The white base ones are called baseballs (you can see why) but yes all rainbows. I collect Rainbows, a bit like Akro corks, I don't believe there is an end to the color combinations they made, every one a little different. I posted hours ago and forgot to submit , DUH !!
