  1. X2, "Alley Coral" all the way, nice clean example Good pix, great neutral background. You won't believe it when you find the correct bulb or "bulbs" my pics are still improving. Some fantastic picture taking tutorials on this forum
  2. Several I have with a pistachio like base glow also, I'm sticking them with the rest of my alleys,. only two where it was a toss up between Alley and ravenswood anyway, thinks for the added info "Ron"

    Akro?

A cheap point and shoot with "macro" should do you nicely !! And a neutral background, one without reflection or light refraction will stop the excess glare and reflections on the glass. Your first few backgrounds were perfect.

    Akro?

They Definitely look newer, I am unfamiliar with them so maybe wait for another to chime in. Definitely "not Akro" and "not Peltier" The little bit of purple tinge I see in both still reminds me of Vacor glass. There is no discernable structure to these mibs, so I am unable to make an I.D.
  5. Great, I had them in the right place except the dark tan base w/ the darker brown swirl, which I thought where ravenswood, either way, "thanks for the post Sonoran and for the I.D's Ron" saved me posting all those mibs and fighting the pic. resizer for the I.D. of one marble.
  6. I'm waiting jut like you, I'm not so good on these swirls, a good few I believe are ravenswood, but I'll wait for someone else to chime in. I know I have quite a few of each one you have represented, finally I will be able to put a name to the face, instead of a large jar of unknown W.Va.

    Akro?

"not a nova" I have several and they all have the classic pelt defined, cutlines on each side of the mib and at each end of the two ribbons. This is one of mine, at 15/16ths, every one locks like this or very close to it in construction, though the colors do vary greatly, all have the classic pelt design, no swirling, these were a later pelt marble, a one day run, sometime in 1988 along with the so called root beer floats, they say all larger marbles but I have seen these down to 11/16ths.

    Akro?

x 3 newer Glass, I 'm sticking with "Vacor" probably a messed up Orca !!
  9. Make sure on the spelling or google wont do you any favors, I know it doesn't look rite, these mibs where made in the Netherlands, more specifically Amsterdam I believe, 1949 - 1962 " Veiligglas" You may have to log in but this post contains the entire history of the mibs in question. Akro?

I'm still shakin my head, I still don't see Akro, but I am stumped !!
  11. HAPPY AKRO FRIDAY EVERYONE !!! Akro facts : With acknowledgement, thanks and credit for information given to; { MCSA } MARBLE COLLECTORS SOCIETY OF AMERICA A short description of Akro Agate Oxblood marbles "Happy Akro Friday Again" a fitting place for this post, so I figured, why not !! A pic repost but some of my favorite Akros.
  12. I do believe we all suffer from the same dilemma Tommy.

    Akro?

I am a bit on the confused side myself ?? Maybe a newer messed up Vacor ?? just a guess !! A head scratcher for sure.
  14. The turquoise blue base says it was probably supposed to be a "superboy, spiderman" ... something along that line, but yes I'm a sucker for one offs, even if everyone told me not to collect them I still do. "A great keeper pelt in my book "
  15. Yes a wire pull !! "looks like Veiligglas" what size is it if you don't mind, many of the Veiligglas were larger next to 15/16ths, but the did make some smaller ones.
  16. I see a couple limeade oxbloods in the mix "Nice Job, all killer mibs Tommy !! The grant type boards are a great way to display, I have several, unfortunately half of them are on the wall, space is at a premium around here.
  17. Aquamilk !! Well guess I can say I was 3 for five, never collected Vitro I do have quite a few, kept for the wet condition, incidental catches from buying lots. Well check one more off the old learning curve "Thanks Ric "
  18. Whoop's !! Sorry bout that Ric !! Looking at the same page you where, the ad next to the bottom it says "glass spangles" fancy designs in colored threads, large as a hens egg ?? got any ideas, are these latticinio with colored threads or what ?? The price seems to be more in the pink salesman's catalog for the same year?? must be the profit for the salesman ??
  19. Deeeeliciouse !!! Akro for lunch, table of 8
  20. Hello Ron, How many "non Heaton" mibs are you finding Ron ? I believe I have around 6 - 8 % ratio that I can't call Heaton, the few cats that are obvious Bogard, I think I have 2 of them both green, but a bunch of the common white base just don't look Heaton to me. Some pics later, just wondering on your percentage thus far ?? Chad G.
  21. x 2 pelt agreed, strange is the word
  22. "Welcome Tommy" a great place to be. Nice pic !!
  23. Reading the box Ric I guess it could contain any myriad of things, confusing to say the least. Say's Onyx but the only onyx I ever seen sparkle is one with fractures all over it, personally I believe Av. the production dates line up perfectly with the miller type pelts in question. There is a reason why surfers, lagoons, etc. are a rare mib & there is no known packaging., I believe a transitional between the miller av. types and NLR, to much of a coincidence for me. Most of the time those boxes contained as labeled but there are cases of a mix of types contained in them, Just speculation again on my behalf.
