Maybe MK.... -
I believe I have some of the "parakeets" Bruce refers to in his 2nd pic in a jar of Vitro at home. I'll have to check it out.

I should say, this was caught yesterday, around 4pm. Halloween weekend is the last weekend the Fishing Float is open so pretty happy she pulled in a big one! Wish I could have been there!

Patty's sister Stacey pulled in a monster today at the fishing float...not as big as the 71 pounder she pulled in earlier this year but it still put up one heck of a fight! I couldn't pull the video from her phone, but it's of the fish getting pulled in by 2 people in the net and Stacey shaking her arm trying to get the feeling back!

It's definitely a cool variety that was found. About half were found inside a disintegrated tin can, the rest in various spots close by.

That's a possibility too, I suppose. Thanks for the input, Dave!

I've never had the notion too collect in this area, but there are quite a few variations I have seen at some of the area antique malls I am a regular at. I'll have to snap some shots for this thread.

I like this mib also. It's darker in the pic, but in hand it's nice multi shades of purple and lavender on one side, looks nice with the orange.

Welcome to MarbleConnection! I think you will find (actually looks like you already have) that the folks here are a friendly, knowledgeable bunch. Best place to be as a marble collector in my opinion! Enjoy, have fun, and good luck hunting! Indeed, looking forward to seeing some of your finds!

Like I said, it's been a long time. Haven't done anything like this since I lived in Florida. The only digging too my credit the last 20+ years has been gardening! I do love the outdoors so I'll be as prepared as I can be. Got a long wait ahead of me! Patty has been a camper her whole life so she'll be prepared also. It's only going to be for 1 day then probably stay overnight at a motel. Since the exact weekend isn't chosen as of yet, we'll hopefully have the luxury of choosing one with decent weather conditions. Thanks for the comments, my friends!

Excited to say that my first planned dig is slated for next Spring in Central Iowa...We're teaming up with another couple who have been too this secluded, undisturbed area a couple times this year. Old marbles, toys, tools, bottles, you name it, it's there. And they've barely scratched the surface. They hit a couple of "veins" this year that produced some nice stuff this year. I picked up a handful of some of the dug mibs he found, and I am so ready for Spring! These are 3 pics of some of the mibs I got today that they dug there. Man, I haven't dug for this kind of fun for years, looking forward to it.
