Alert! Marble collectors on the rise!
akroorka replied to Wolf's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
You found some cool stuff! I wonder about the three headed thing. The marbles are all Contemporary. Marble--On!! -
Not a "Muddie" even a cousin Fire. You know that I love my "Muddies". This one will take a bit more research imho. Marble--On!!
-
No Ric, no "Tracer" evidence here imho. @Chad G. knows these cutlines as well as any one---this may be more than a simple Rainbo imho. Marble--On!!

X3--nice one though! Marble--On!!

It is a stone agate marble--at first, I thought what a weird Vitro--just not. Facets are weird little, small flat spots that may appear in hand under a loupe with great light involved and they are very hard to capture regardless of your image processing. The marks came from the grinder and were left over from the polishing process. I have managed to catch a few after much try and error. They are all very much the same. What is weird is that this one saw some play. Notice the little half-moons in the first two images--these are hit marks from play. Just a weird looking--desirable old Agate that is more than likely eaten up quite a few glass marbles. Size is always an issue with ID. Backlight this one and be rewarded. Great find! Marble—On!!

The cutlines are Akro, the folds are not. I am on the fence here and it hurts🤢 @Steph knows her "Sunsets" lets see if she will chime in here. Marble--On!!

All that I see lines this up to be a Pelt--just not the colors. If it were not for your images it would be hard to tell. This is a weird one--break out the books here. All opinions are needed and respected with this one. Pelt imho--a rare one. Marble--On!!

Nice slag, altough I do see a pince of yellow in the first image. Akro is my call--Machine made. I appreciate all opinions and hope to see some more. Nice marble regardless of the final ID! Marble--On!!
-
All are as-made my freind--this one is a Pelt that shows up as a Pelt. I love a good Pelt with blow holes--this one is nice! Marble--On!!

Argentina was heavily influence by many German manufacturers over the years. I suspect that these may have been made in Argentina by German influenced machines. The more images that we get, the better—for sure. These could be special—at least here in the USA Lets call in @Mojo for a comment here. Marble—On!!

Most are Vacor "Black Panthers" and I agree with the modern MK ID as well. Nice finds! Marble--On!!
-
@Melissa is quite qualified with these--lets call her in here. She is on top of this stuff for sure. Marble--On!!
-
@Nantucketdink will have the final say here. I think that it is a Jabo "Classic"--nice one! Marble--On!!
-
I think that you are right on. The spot I do not really see as a detriment here. Did you know that Marble companies purchased “cullet”(broken unused glass) from the same company that made "Ponds Cold Cream Jars? I just love a good “Opal” marble. Perhaps @Alan can give us some more depth here on the opal cullet. Marble—On!!

These appear to have a "Sprayed"on metallic finish. These are not Pelts--nuf said. MK and Vitro both did this. @Ric and @Melissa may have more to say here. I do not think that these are Vacor for whatever reason. Marble--On!!

Vitro yes! "Phantom" sounds right to me but lets check in with @Ric an @Melissa for a final eval. Nice marble!! Marble--On!!
-
Hmm the white is quite intense here--I wonder? More opinions are needed. @Melissa? Marble--On!!

Nice images --this one is a Jabo--Classic imho. Great share! Marble--On!!

Thanks @Ric, (I think—I just went on a torrent--oh well this is just me) A slag is a single stream marble meaning there was one stream of glass, one white and one transparent coming out of the Kiln/Machine to complete a glob of glass that was transformed into the cute little orb😁 that we all enjoy today. In the older slags this meant one pot containing two colors—one white, one transparent color. They were both mixed (no double dipping here—lol). Glasses do not mix color wise—they just get along with each other sometimes. (Many times, it does not get along and that is why we see so many “experimental” types that were dug. Some are very cool to collect but never meant for general sales) The “Wire Pulls” are a different animal and I truly believe that they had an injection process that revealed the one continuous line that formed the “Wire Pull”, so two tanks in a two-colored marble. This could not have been achieved in any furnace without the addition of another tank of glass feeding the final marble imho. The Kiln was the machine, not the rollers or the cut knives. It was stationary and operated with gravity and intense heat. Generally, the “machine” in the Machine-made world had multiple colors involved—all from the same heat source and this is where it becomes complicated. I look Forward to @Alan chiming in here, he has a wealth of knowledge. Marble—On!!
