  2. This is the Alley book that I refer to. Just a nice book to hold, read, look at and enjoy. 11x9" Hardcovered. Marble--On!!

Yes, this one has been around and I did not comment as I recall-- But I will now--no Oxblood imho---marble manufacturing pollution. I appreciate all opinions. Marble--On!!
  4. Actually, I believe that these boxes came with less pronounced NLR marbles enclosed--run of the mill so to speak. Just my opinion based on a bunch of research. Why not dress them up a bit? Why not make a most excellant display? Collect what you like and backfill to your desire. Marble-On!!
  5. This what what turned me towards a Ravenswood. Good clue and the size will be respected in the future as well. I will continue to learn until the end--- Thanks and Marble--On!!
  6. That is a Pelt Zebra. Nice marble!!! Marble--On!!

    Good news--lets hope! Marble--On!!
  8. Books? It depends on what you are looking for, these that I mention are good all around starts. There are a lot of great ones and they all are dated--history wise--not so much image wise. My favorite is my last purchase--the Alley book--not cheap but a good investment, it does focus on Alley Marbles. The best for a variety of images, well there are many----- "Marble Mania" by Stanley Block is not too shabby. I like "American Machine Made Marbles" for a good variety of history and images. As always, all opinions are welcomed and appreciated. Marble--On!!
  9. You have to remember that the books generally show the best examples--this one is a good one-really good. Marble--On!!
  10. Mine too--I just do not know why yet---Marble instincts? They do matter. I love a good Ravenswood marble! #3 on my list after Akro and--well some others. Marble--On!!
  11. OK, It might happen LOL. I am thinking one of each named NLR--is there enough room? I will try my idea first. Marble--On!!
  12. To tell the truth--just for once😁😁😁😁---I was searching Vacor. I came up with nothing--But?? Marble--On!!
  13. Well Ron, If you see Ravenswood I will ride with that. Is the transparent glass a clue? Thanks and--- Study--On!!
  14. Here are some larger Akro marbles The first one is more than likely from a "dig" at 1-3/8" but it is a nice big corkscrew and I love it ( you have to know that they were trying). The next two were successfully marketed at 1". The swirl comes in many color combos and the oxblood patch—well, I have many better than this but this is what I was able to find in short notice. These big ox patches were a common find in Akro gift boxes—the cardboard ones. Marble—On!!
  15. I collect boxes as well as pouches and marbles too---😁 In my mind, is a box ever finished???—Well not this one that I have been working on for longer that I can remember. I do know that I have had a lot of fun doing the research. I will get it right someday—or not. These 5/8” Pelts are not an easy find—for my pocket-book anyhow. Just keep on keeping on is my motto. It is a work in progress. I paid more for the beat up pouch that I did for the box—go figure, I have not seen another pouch like this for sale, so I did OK. I know which pouch is right, one just looks better. 10 cents---Really!! Collect on!!
  16. Thanks Ron, Still--a great Tribute! and intended to be so. This one will stay here at home and be remembered. Marble--On!!
  17. Ok, so I am studying this new book that I purchased, “Alley Agate Company—Marbles and Pressed Glass” ( a very nice book with lots of info and images, well made and quality for sure I also purchased the Book ”L.E. Alley “Father of West Virginia Swirls” & Maker of Fine Tableware” by L.E. Alley III, which is another well put together book if you are into the Alley Agate collectibles other than marbles) This marble that I was researching went like this---it must be an Alley---it must be an Alley---it must be an Alley---it must be an Alley---it must be an Alley---until I got to page #101. Now it may be a Ravenswood, which I thought from the start. Oh well, I still suck at WVS ID. Help me out with your opinion. This one is just over 9/16”. It is a nice little Orb. Marble—On!!

Nice looking Jabo marbles imho. The pink is cullet from another glassmaker that I cannot remember the name of---nice stuff that pink. All opinions are appreciated and welcomed. Marble—On!!
  19. There are not many WVS makers left--this one is surrounded. I will say Champion, one of two left for a guess I think. Marble--On!!
  20. I would sort the bottom two as Akro. All machine made slags and swirls will show up with a "nine" now and then. Just a part of the process of a glob of glass falling and twisting a bit. There is a Master Made posted today that shows some of this. The "tail" on the bottom right is not uncommon to find either, just a stretched out bit o white imho. All opinions are welcomed and appreciated. Marble--On!!
  21. Backlight a few images. Marble--On!!
  22. That is one that I cannot recall seeing before. I agree, not a Peltier or a Jabo. Ric may be onto something with CAC. I paged through the book "Collecting Early Machine-made Marbles by Robert S.Block and there a few pictured that are close. Marble--On!!
  23. Imperial sounds good to me. A nice big one. Marble--On!!
  24. Thanks for sharing that. Very cool. Now I have seen two that are one of a kind--love it. Marble--On!!
  25. I should break a few open just for a fun reaction to posts--one image--enough said.
