If this is good, what is top notch? It is top notch in my book! A really, really, beautiful example---just a great marble!! Thanks for sharing it!(what is it?) Marble—On!!

Well, I will take a shot at these. I really cannot remember a purple patch like these ever coming across my fingers/eyes. Purple is kind of rare color in any machine made marble. I would sort them as Marble Kings—earlier. The last group looks like Vitro to me and I will stick with that---vintage in both cases imho. As always—more opinions are needed and respected. Marble—On!!

If you are worried about Sorcery you have it in the right spot. Metal deters Sorcery. You might want to sprinkle some salt on it and place it under a glass dome as well. It is a great looking marble with great color---no clue on the maker. Marble—On!!

Names for Akro Agate tri color patch/agates?
akroorka replied to Akro75's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Well Akro75, There are a few named Akros but for me, just having an Akro is enough. I would never be involved in trying to put a name to the very best machine made marbles ever produced. The Akro Agate company did this quite well. They stand alone, on a mountain. To own one is the tops for me in marble collecting, no names needed. Akro Agate works just fine for me. The nick-name “corkscrew” is one that will always be recognized by all collectors without question. The collectors of other companies that have “named” marbles are just trying to keep up with the epitome of machine made marbles. Well, did I stir something up? This might just turn out to be a great question/post. Akro’s rule all others are wannabes. Of course this is all in fun but you asked—your fault. Marble—On!!! -

Well Fenncewv, Keep walking were you did, most of this type came out of the ground in WV. A great reason to pick up any marble!! Marble--On!!

They are all WVS (West Virginia Swirl) marbles. Nice ones at that. I believe that the top one is a Champion. I just call them like I see them!! Marble--On!!

It looks like you have two"bigger" ones Ric. Maybe 9/16"? I have two that are "out of round" at 7/16" and one splitting hairs at 13/32". I pay attention, just not as much as many do. A Cork--Head am I. Marble--On!!!

MCS, Pelt all the way. A very nice one😁

I agree as well-- a nice orange on white Peltier. Nice nut--a new one? I'll bet this one is older--oops, forgot the marble🔧. Marble--On!!

Doooo--n’t even think of the V word Pelt-Head’s, I may be a Cork-head, but I know my Peltier marbles very well. This one is a tiny bit out of round---5/8” or so, but still, very crazy! Marble—On!!!

A very nice rainbo!!

I never knew that they had a name--Thanks for the info. Did these ever come bigger is my question. I have seen a few of these and have always wondered that. ( I just do not see Sunflower in the naming of this one--oh well--maybe Marigold--❔lol) Great group of pee-wees Chad---a very great group!! That little Wolverine is killer! Marble--On!!

Thanks Ron, I learn something new everyday in this hobby/passion. All I have to do is ask. Marble--On!!

I have not seen an explanation on this type of marble. They look like a Vitro but they have an oily sheen to them—metallic like. Maybe someone can give us both an idea of just what you have there. I have come across these once in awhile and never ventured a guess as to the maker. Marble—On!!

Worthless to many but I'll bet that if it was laying on the ground, most of us here would pick it up and put it in our pocket😃 You are far from being the only nerd here lol. Marble--On!!
