All" Killer" marbles!--I just love them! Marble--On!!

This is a “Happy New Years” tip for newer collectors. Take your time and look. When I search a new lot of marbles I always use a head magnifier and I back light them all with a torch light. The more light the better. I am always searching for Akro Flinties, so I back light everything---EVERYTHING!!! Including cats-eyes and “solids”. These two would have slipped by as just”pretty nice” without the help that I mention. The Champion “metallic” is obviously “metallic”, even in low light at 9/16”. What a great surprise to find it encased in opalescent glass. A BONUS in my world for sure! Take your light and shine it through the marble at a white surface, if it shows a red-dish pink, it has opalescence in the base glass. Many manufacturers used this type of glass but it is not all that common. The Alley Agate swirl at 5/8” is a nice swirl in hand and that is what it looks like, in hand, under normal light. Light it up with magnification and it is just a very special marble no doubt. When I find one of these out of a lot of marbles that looked common, what can I say; patience is the key to good collecting. Take your time and be rewarded. I just love finding great marbles out of “the wild”. I know that there are many collectors that have many of these marbles but finding one, after doing your due diligence just makes them very special. Keepers for sure—just because. Marble—On!!! and Collect---on for sure!!

These smaller marbles can be hard to ID because they just do not show like the larger ones. They are more transparent regardless of the opacity of the glass. The cutoffs are a tad different because of the size of the glob that was cutoff. They cool/anneal and roll to an orb faster and in general, just do not look not the same as we may all be used to seeing in even a 5/8” marble. I will agree that it looks like a Vitro marble but they could be Pelt or Akro. The yellow is pretty deep, thick and pronounced. They are vintage pre-war, imho. I do believe that they are from the same maker. Well made and more than likely Vitro Agate. I will commit to that. Regardless of the seams and committing to the colors. I just call them like I see them and I look very closely at the images presented. They are Vitro in my world. Nice marbles regardless of any ID. Marble—On!!

I would have guessed more like over 3/4". It is very busy for that size--Great marble!

Hello Mojo, Nice yellow with AV. This marble could have been made by any maker world-wide in any time frame. Marble--On!!

Here is an odd one at 9/16”. Plenty of colors AV wise. There is brown, green and blue in the matrix on a swirly white base. Let’s just call it an odd Zebra and be done with it. Odd is good. Marble—On!!

The Spiderman is an excellent image----Love it! I would love to know the size and whether or not the Pelt-heads would consider it a "Miller". Marble—On!!!

I think that single ribbon is better when dealing with handmades, or single husk😁 Marble--On!!

Hello Greeneyes, I would like to think that I have green thumbs as well. The blue/yellow is not an Akro. WVS, as is the blue teal one. You have to open up and look elseware imho. They are both very nice marbles--just not Akro. I want all marbles to be Akro---really I do. https://www.westvirginiaswirls.com/copy-of-alox-1 Marble--On!!!

The blue and yellow one may be a Cairo. Blue and yellow was a thing with them. Nice marble that one. The Blueish greenish one may be a Ravenswood but I am sticking my neck out. The rest--no clue. Marble--On!!

I will roll with Akro on this one. The two cutoffs are very similar, I had to look closely. Marble--On!!

Here is a nice “little” group. By little, I mean 17/32” quite rare, in my world at least. They came to me together, so I keep them together—like a Family. Thanks for allowing me to become part of this Family of collectors. I appreciate all of you to no end. Family On!!! And Marble—On as well!!!
