  1. I sorely miss Bill Murray in the art. A great, humble guy and an innovative artist. I enjoy his work even more than the days that I bought it. Mike ripped me off for $500 cash - straight and simple theft. He still owes me that $500 and went through great lengths to avoid my emails, calls and contacts. I have not forgotten - and will not. His GF of the time told me what was going on. People should consider themselves forewarned. He is the only person in the hobby that ever stole from me.
  2. There is amazing diversity among artists. Buy what you love for your own reasons. Meet the artists and ask about how they made the piece - their work will mean more to you.
  3. There is is "UV reactive" - and then there is UV "POP!". It depends upon the piece. There are "UV" Popeyes - and then there are a few Vaseline Popeyes which are nice and HTF. Akro Lemonades and Limeades are based on eye appeal. Some UV pieces practically glow without UV.
  4. It was added for specific effect. Opalescent glass was first formulated by glass makers for molded glass.
  5. There are two basic answers: Opalescent glass is intentionally chemically formulated to achieve the opalescent effect. The chemical approaches to this were varied over time. Various aluminum compounds were normal as were some flourides. The "effect" is caused by visual perception of the diverse optical frequencies that are close to the visual wavelength perception of the human eye.
  6. Ric, I am very sorry for your loss.
  7. I imagine that they will accept donations for the displays. The public wouldn't know and Akro corkscrew from a Indian - or care.
  8. I can't get enough of them.
  9. What does a water wheel have to do with a glass furnace?
  10. Go in a Rock & Mineral gift shop and watch the parade of people that come in looking for various crystals to heal specific ailments, disease and pains. Its not just one or two people.
  11. The brown base Emerald green Ravenswood is a different type from the light brown, light green Ravenswood.
  12. On the subject of "insides" - here is a photo of a broken Akro milky oxblood - exterior and interior. Sorry the focus is off:
  13. Mike Cosentino used to make cases like that and sell them at shows. I still have a few (I think they are empty now).
  14. Those aren't jumping out at me as MK. The one on the right looks a bit Pelt-ish.
  15. I think you're onto something!
  16. I remember when red micas and Sulphides were The Hotness - and few people wanted machine mades.
  17. The bag clip is almost as interesting.... as it suggests a modern production.
