  1. I am agreeing with Steph all the way on that one marble. And I get more of an Akro feel for the first mib Duffy posted.
  2. Yea it was nice, everyone realized others had a opinions that were different from their own and pretty much excepted and respected that fact, Then some members started deciding some folks shouldn't be able to express their opinions. And members ran. I really do miss those days when Alan was around and folks could speak their minds.
  3. I thought the reddish and blue on the white base looked more vintage than those.
  4. here is a large black clambroth http://www.ebay.com/...d=190785788804
  5. Woo hooooo!!!!!! Hope it all gets taken care of soon!. I just got my first hernia last Friday!
  6. Rich, I think it was thought work has already been done to the marble and it was being asked what to look for.
  7. The owners of CAC are well documented and one was not AF. Old memories are often much more fantasy than fact
  8. No biggy Duffy. I have learned to look at the source. That one I like is now 3rd row down middle. They did find, or make? some interesting glass although I believe a lot was cullet at Cairo.
  9. Always liked the middle right variety.
  10. Lots of misinformation based on assumption in that article. As for scrap glass at CAC I personally believe very little if any was used. And there is still no actual evidence Arnold ever worked at Cambridge but if he did it was after he was done with marbles. NICE second handers for sure!
  11. Give a talented man some sand and a few chemicals and if his initials are AF this is some of the stuff he made possible.
  12. I forget to be PC>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Usually on purpose>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>seems to get folks posting>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>one must have a thick skin to except the push back from the Boring PC crowd>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>my skin is like an elephants>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>except not as grey>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>marblin sure is fun>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>and it is even more fun when everyone excepts others opinions whether they agree with them or not
  13. He also has been attempting to acquire mibs from newbies for as little as possible when they post that they have just found some marbles. Seems sleazy all the way. I do not believe he ever offers to give them a fair amount of their value, always asks what they want knowing they have no idea of the marbles worth.
  14. Sorry about that Don, Let me know if you get any more that large or larger close or mint and I will at least double your number
  15. And start looking for Lutz??? http://www.ebay.com/itm/AAM-MARBLES-11-16-ALLEY-LUTZ-SWIRL-/170975409831?pt=Marbles&hash=item27ceedb6a7 in your vintage machine mades. And all this from a guy that banned moderators and publicly tried to humiliate some folks for using descriptions in their ebay adds he thought were not correct. Really, Lutz? and those pre corks are just that, not corkscrews.
  16. I like Alleys Pelts and Handmades too!! The help me get more CACs!! I even have some pretty Jabos. Sometimes I think back to all the fantastic marbles I have gotten rid of and wonder what kind of collection of those other types I would have, if I would have kept them. But then I look at the CACs they have helped me procure and it all feels right!! Keep smiling Mon and don't take my BS too personal. But I would have to disagree with the more complex statement. The new back yard marbles are cullet and art glass put in a tank. The difficulty of batch making compatible glass in a variety of colors and the complexity of CAC marble construction seems light years more complex to me.
  17. good slam Mon but some folks just prefer to collect vintage stuff and really don't need others to oooh and ahhhh their marbles. I collect CACs because I like the history complexity of construction nice colors etc etc . I would imagine that is why most collect the types they do. Those that just want pretty can buy the new stuff, It is the same difference as collecting vintage Chippendale or Mission or some other type that is massively reproduced. Some folks want the real deal, not the cheap lookalikes. And some can only afford the cheaper look alikes so they go for those types. More power to them. I have a bunch of Jabos for you if you want to send me your address. They would probably go well with your beanie babies Bradford Exchange porcelains and your Franklin Mint coins.
  18. I once sold one just a hair under 2 inches with a few moons for 350
  19. I can positively identify it as a West Virginia Swirl.
  20. Darn it. Looking at them that big I may have to start collecting Alley Agates
  21. Great, now we have 5/8" marbles being made with colors that resemble vintage marbles. Sorry I still see no need for that. Why not make them different? Go ahead and slam me for feeling that way but it makes me sick to my stomach!
  22. ya Duffy, its funny how some folks just do not care to hear the truth.
  23. I have been banned by several sellers for simply asking questions, also been banned by a few for statements I have made on the boards. I am good with it.
