  1. Which are rainbos, not National Line Rainbos
  2. Did all those faked colored sulphides come from one person??? It is amazing that 10 colored sulphides(all fakes) found there way to you Rich. Scary!
  3. Rich, what color were the sulphides you worked on that were surface colored.. And if there were chips(I imagine so if being torched) did they appear clear in the chips. Often the old put them in water method will expose the fakery. And that link is for a paint not a die that goes into the glass at all. We are talking two different things as the paint methods(there are many) are rarely used on any surface that comes in contact with another surface as it is fairly easily marred and the coating revealed.Often even a pin will reveal a colored coating on glass. If you investigate dying glass you will find it to be a very complicated process and almost impossible to research.
  4. Sorry Rich, not questioning the fact that some glass is dyed. Just think it is a stretch assuming something done by a huge company like Corning(time period?) was done on a Sulphide marble. I may be way off but I believe the processes are fairly complicated. (Heat, chemicals, pressures etc.)
  5. Rich, big assumption that what you talked to Corning about has anything to do with Sulphides. At least in my way of thinking. Almost sounds like chemicals they add in furnace to make the glass colored??
  6. Is the blue a color known from the 90s? And Rich do you have any info on that statement about folks chemicaly dying sulphides "in the old days", sounds interesting but I have never heard of such a case when talking Sulphide marbles.
  7. No I do not know. I am going to have to break some old glass. But I do know someone that cased sulphides with color not that long ago.
  8. I never heard there were any blue ones?
  9. Sorry John, Just trying to make it a little easier on you. Sometimes one just has to play the game. I hope all works out soon. God bless.
  10. John, In this new world of law suites and CYA it is always easiest to just play the game and do what they ask you to do. Don't take it personal. With all the bureaucratic BS every one has to follow these days someone is probably just covering their ass. If you can just assume someone would loose their job and livelihood if they don't do things right it may make it easier on you. Don't fight just go with the flow.. No one is picking on you. your just a victim of your own circumstances.
  11. Sounds like David is almost as big a fan of the USPS as I am. But they really do need a new management. Going to the Post Office is becoming a rather unpleasant affair. Long lines will ruin a business.
  12. I believe it is a simple case of a Company using up the old stock it had purchased.or acquired..
  13. Most are plastic. The bags marked Champion held more marbles.
  14. Ann I believe all the boxes have that color printing on the sides.
  15. you may have to experiment with different products. Like this http://www.amazon.com/Environmental-Technology-8-Ounce-Casting-Craft/dp/B000XAR0DM/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1355495153&sr=8-10&keywords=glass+epoxy
  16. Any one that wants to make themselves completely insane needs to study CAC marbles up close and personal. The construction on Guineas is usually quite similar to the Striped Transparents and Opaques. Here you go: try and explain these features. I tried to figure it out with many substances and just got closer to the rubber room. I gave up. I find the spotting and linear stretching much too directional to attribute to handwork. JMHHO
  17. Iwas going by the condition of the red glass on the marbles which appears to have the look of the dug marbles. And if it is employees maybe he needs some new ones.
  18. New box dug marbles, IMO. I hate to say it but old Bert should stick to the Contemporaries
  19. now that is the type of marble it is more than OK to polish. Contemporaries. I wonder who hated them so much to start with?
  20. Modern Reproduction IMO. Lots of things are off IMO, The uneven lines, the leaf shaped end decorations are not consistent to original types, and why would one of the farmers have a Chinese style hat. We all know they were called Chinas because of the material they were made of.
