I noticed it appeared the fading of the boxes continued under the labels. Pretty good giveaway for added labels. Lots of marble collectors do get blinded with the chance of buying a great looking rare marble. I am amazed at the number of torched marbles that are appearing at shows. Usually in someones keeper box. very obvious if you know(and want to know)what to look for. This marble does look more German than Asian to me.

My Finds At My Marble Show

I would agree with Steph the first is a Conqueror type. As for the mineral some type of Quartz would be my guess. -
Rosin Balls, kind of catchy

I question whether those are original to the game. Notice the cover, sure look like glass marbles in the drawing. And did MFC&Son even make clay marbles?

Les did know more than most for sure, but a lot of his knowledge was gained from assumptions and here say. That was all we had in the early days. And we still have tons of information that has never been backed up by facts. More and more is coming to light every year thank goodness. I just wish someone would come up with some CAC paperwork.

I am thinking they all may br Vacor. Those earkier ones can be very similar to CACs. In hand would be a must. And I have seen some blue based Vacors that were nearly identical to CAC. And being a collector of vintage items The vacors hold no more value to me than the modern chinese stuff. Vacor produces in one day nearly what CAC produced in its whole term of existence. Yes a slight exaggeration but not by much. I collect old stuff and mostly American. Hope this answers a bit of your wondering Braid. And This is not meant to be a put down in any way to those many folks that do collect Vacors.

I believe the Last one is Vacor.

I would bet and give odds there were patches made at Alley and that is one. Besides cullet there are also some swirls that match.

I have seen a fair amount of these types, HTF for sure. (often now called cane cut slags). Killer group That1! Hadn't heard the Chevron name recently used for them. The marble type I have most often heard the Chevron name used is an opaque(usually white and clambroth like with the chevron pattern eminating from one pole. Looked for pics and found some of the small cane types and could not find any of the large handmade type with chevron pattern only coming up partway from one pole. Although the solid white id closer. I can see why some would call the cane cut slags chevrons although the name best fits the larger types that I can not find a pic of. You have one Steph? There have been several discussions on several boards about cane cut slags and looking back it is synonymous with the chevron slag types. And just being collectors names they do not mean a whole lot as these types stand on there own without any name!!

Back To The Marbles. Recent Finds

Nice mibs, Living in Ohio sure makes for some nice groups!! -
Rich I was not insinuating that you had anything at all to do with folks not posting. I said most folks do not post that have negative fealings toward any marbles posted, yours or anyones. The reason for this is any negative posts whether done politely or not are often taken wrong by many folks and they are then hammered by other folks on the board. Most do not have the want to keep posting when their opinions are hammered by fellow members. Some folks seam to think only nice warm posts should ever be allowed on the site. And some of us have refused to go away. Not many left thats for sure. I noticed the term haters was even used in this thread. (thats too bad)

nice cane cut slag.

Good points, but you will not hear from 99% of the folks that take offense to them. Mainly seasoned collecters are the ones and they rarely if ever post any more. Folks rarely post when they despise something. I have to believe most of the fans of the marble cullet mibs are new collectors. I had you make them for me so I can use them as an educational feature to show folks what fake marbles look like. Like it or not many of the ones you have made will find their way into the world of buy and sell. And even with that I think you should make what you want. And please never scratch anything onto them. Maybe a Titanium pen sig. but that is enough. (And I am only speaking of marble cullet)

I believe Kingfisher made the mistake of thinking you made these from marbles. (At least I hope so) And his response would have been better in another thread. If not, maybe an I do not, would have sufficed. And Rich, I hope you understand a large percentage of collectors take huge offense at your marble cullet marbles.

Now thats some funny stuff!

I would think that unless someone is bidding in the last few seconds that a sniping program could help with any amount. Especially with blurry and not very heavily looked at lots. Many folks will automatically look at lots that have bids on them and glance over lots with no bids. That is the main reason I use a sniping program. No need to let other folks know it may be something worth bidding on. And you can put any amount in as a snipe. No need for crazy amounts like the above auction. The only time I ever bid early is if there are bidders and I want to see how high they have bid. If it is below what I would pay I then go and enter my high bid into my snipe program. Maybe I should have kept this a secret(LOL) Actually, I think that is why most folks snipe.

It only went for 530 because some other nut bid 525(LOL)

I have a problem with some of the so called doubling. Although in hand would be needed to tell for sure, On a real doubles date the upper date is always the full size it would be if not doubled. Some of these appear as if some of the Date has been pushed off to make the so called doubling.Therefor changing the shape of the upper date. This is actually on of the easier fakes. Easier than adding mintmarks. This is just my opinion and I would need to have the coins in hand to be positive.

Nice and new IMO.
