  1. From day one until today,i have always collected what caught my eye. I have and had all ages and types of marbles, old and new. I could NEVER pin it down to one,two or three, type, company,or artist. It would have been much easier if i had. I have been a regular at Jabo for several years, not just 2008 and 2009. I have been LUCKY enough to be at five of the special, experimental runs or whatever label you wish. If i had to give away every single marble that i received from those runs,it would have been a good investment for me. What i received from those runs, money CANNOT buy. If you were not there, you may not understand. A few were there for the investment of making a profit alone, but even most of them left with more. If you were there you know the facts, the numbers, etc,if you wanted to. Most runs were different numbers all around. So i don't know how anyone can say what a cost per marble was or even what each investment was. Money for each run was also used in different ways and purchases. It is easy to take hear say or whats seen on the surface and apply it to all. But it can be deceiving. Even the timing of each run in 2008 and the fast 2009 has many reasons. All i can say is ENJOY it or let those who wish to,do so,while it is still possible. Not everyone has to be or will be any part of it. Here in the USA it is called choice. Like a lot of good things in life, this also will end. Like a lot in life, maybe sooner than many of us want. Glad i was there,THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Yes #30 is the HOD for Howard Powell. This one #30 and #32 Edna Ross are similiar but side by side or in hand the difference can be seen. Also like #20 Edith Irene and #27 are similiar but side by side they are different. The marbles named after or for someone is a honor,a tribute and VERY VERY much appreciated. But don't let the names worry or confuse you,as always collect what you like, and you will be happy with your selections.
  3. Where are you getting all these? I need to check out this rest stop, they must have good marbles. Nice pictures and nice Alleys by all. Hope to see Ric and Jake at the rest stop later this week.
  4. Griff are those special plastic Jabo jigs you made, barbless, single or trebles? Probably big trebles to snag with. LMAO.
  5. Also my two grandaughters,Mary and Sarah Peggs. What a great offer and a great job matching the marble to the pictures.
  6. Does 21 have black or dark blue? The Hod,nickname for Howard Powell,is a white floater base with the green mica, brown, and a somewhat dull or burnt red, some have lutz, some do not. It is close to #21 but no black or dark blue. I do not see a Hod yet.
  7. I think that a few years ago you ask children to draw a picture of a marble, and you would make the marble for them. My grandchildren still have their marbles. I still have the original drawing,a whale on a marble, and my grandson Morgan was just talking last week about that drawing and the marble you made for him. THANK YOU Again, some fond memories, even for the younger ones.
  8. Has anyone checked the Alley salesman sample case picture? I see one possible, maybe more????????? I think Chuck B. and some of us has some Alleys that look very similiar. CAC or ALLEY or both ??????????
  9. Griff, the sauger and walleye are just moving up to the dam. I live one mile (by road) from the Belleville dam on the Ohio. Some good old big ones, catfish in the Ohio here. But they can get picky and smart. The stripers and bass should be hitting by the time of the Cairo and WVMCC show times. I wish that i had time to fish as i once did. Maybe it will return someday soon.
  10. I wonder how that gold lutz and some blue av got in there on night shift? By sleepy eyes and griff as coach. Better check them close for surprises. What goes bump in the night ? Griff,s knee on a marble machine. What a night !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Those look familiar. Glad to see you are back home.
  12. Looks Vacor, and i don't believe you can make a marble out of round shooting it,even in many many years. A out of round shooter would not be my favorite shooter. It got out of round while it was hot not cold.
  13. HAPPY BIRTHDAY I agree with the above !!!!!!! See you soon! Ron Shepherd
  14. Does the first one have the seam down the middle of the back?
