  1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Alan and Many Many More to come. Take a break and enjoy.
  2. Kevin,i received your message,and sent you a reply.
  3. As of monday,i will be offically RETIRED. This is my last full night at work as a full time Dupont employee. I will be gone from the computer for a while, until i get something for a connection at my house. Probably have to be by satellite. All of us here tonight are going for a breakfast celebration when we get off work at 06:30am. Call if you need something,i will check my regular email hopefully once a week. Ron S.
  4. I will make it over there. You will probably have most of them done when i get there. There are many people on both of these boards that are very good with the swirls.
  5. The back issues of the WVMCC newsletters have detailed articles, explianations, and pics about Vitro aquamarines, superiors, tiger types,(i think) bullseye, etc. Several were done by Chuck Brandstetter a serious Vitro collector. The earlier back issues are all avialble on one disc.
  6. Hi Mike, for your post#1/2/3. I would consider those aquamarines. As for the oxblood it all depends on what you consider oxblood. That can be a very narrow or wide topic for most collectors. For me,i see oxblood in a large percentage of the Vitro aquamarines. Your #3 being the best example of the three for aquamarine. You might get some varied opinions on #1.
  7. I remember that show well. It was the WVMCC first show at the Mineral Wells location. Joe W. was not lucky or happy that first day and somewhat new to the hobby. Yes,after buying these,he was told that they were new. Some said Mega and some may have said Jabo but definately new. But that was not the only mistake,he had also bought a guniea. He then resold it and the buyer had me look at it for a opinion. After a couple more confirmations,it turned out it was a fake, remelt. Joe,refunded the buyers money instantly. Joe was red faced, pulsing, and upset but he was not the only participate to have problems with a certian small group of individuals. There were to many similiar complaints from to many honorable people. So the trap was set and the bait taken. I then confronted the group and ask them to leave the show. When a friend and pro boxer stepped in to even the odds, they decided to leave. That was the only time so far and i hope the only time that i ever have to ask someone to leave a WVMCC show. But for some unknown reason, the remainder of that show went smooth, uneventful and ended successfully. Even the roadshow has BAD appraisals. The experts are not always 100% correct all of the time. Even the experts are human and only giving advice they believe correct at the time. The problem is if the seller had new, more or better info, before the listing ??? Or did they change the listing or end it once they got better info ???????
  8. I also recently got a new set of wheels. I am sure this one gets better gas mileage than mine. I agree,it needs some two or three color flames. Edna you may not be buying many marbles now because Weldon will be cruising ahead of you. That front carrier looks like it will hold a few. How does it do in the dirt? It may need some rough tread tires for back here. Stay safe and see you soon in Texas.
  9. Not what is know as a Jabo guinea. This marble just has the gold or lutz blown on the surface. The different Jabo guineas have a variety of different colors, blown on the surface, some embed smooth into the surface.
  10. Maybe i shouldn't post this but here is a tip. Most of buttermilks especially the larger size have been found in older mesh bags, containing Vitro marbles. These mesh bags usually do not have Vitro anyplace on the header. Several mesh bags have been opened to get these buttermilks. The larger one that Edna has, came from a mesh bag. That bag had two large ones and three smaller size buttermilks. A good chance that most of the buttermilks produced went to a jobber or jobbers. The yellow for the buttermilks is much lighter, thinner, than the yellow in superiors and lots of Vitros. As posted earlier the blue stripe or swirling can sometimes be very dark almost black. There is some variation with the buttermilks, just like most named collectiable marbles. Most buttermilks are not cheap because the numbers produced may not be as large compared to other Vitros. Plus the mesh bags are not cheap and then easily opened to just remove certian marbles,to make them avialable. Just a little more info or background on buttermilks. The name(more than one)on the mesh bag headers? Maybe sometime later,if you are willing to search you will find them.
  11. Kevin, yours is a nice buttermilk. With the smaller sizes you will find more definate patch and ribbon style and the colors are usually definate and bright. With the larger sizes the colors may fade some and they tend to swirl more away from a patch and ribbon. But nice colors and patch and ribbon style are also found in the large size. So far myself,i have only one larger size aquamarie. But i know that they are out there,i have seen a FEW that some major Vitro collectors have.
  12. I agree that some of the most difficult to find Vitro are the larger buttermilk and larger aquamarine. The buttermilk name came from a former Vitro employee at the Vienna location. There is several very knowledagble Vitro people, some are Chuck and Diane Brandstetter from Indy. If you have a interest in any Vitros. DO NOT miss any opportunity to talk to Chuck or Diane at several of the shows. The same goes for Howard and Julia Powell, plus others.
  13. Thanks for the heads up on this article. Check it out,it is worth your time.
  14. I might be able to find a few of those for sale. But i could not list them as Miller machine marbles.
  15. Bill, you caught me off guard again. I let another one slip by. Gettum while you can, retirement and a satellite hook up are getting near. It may be a long winter. A nice keeper.
  16. The last big dig at the dance studio produced good numbers of these older style ones. Down about the 10-15 ft. deep range. Mibcapper(Bill) avaitar picture was a good location or hole for many of these. Bill probably has some under his feet and in his bucket along with all the mud. I still have a few with mud attached.
  17. I will be there thursday, friday & sat. See everyone soon.

    Marble Video

How hard can it be? How many times have i said that. Great job Joe,lots of time and effort. I have people at work ask how do you make marbles? Now they have seen the video and understand much better than my ramblings. Now maybe they will not think i am totally crazy and stop asking if i have lost my marbles. I am on the waiting list for a few of these for gifts and future questons, how do they make marbles. I can already see in the crystal ball, more projects in your future. See you in Columbus. Thanks Joe
  19. Nice price for a Vitro from what i see on my monitor.
  20. My herd has increased but i am still behind. I am suppose to be the Shepherd. You are going to have to get a larger barn. Also nice mib. Check your email about the boxes.
  21. Sorry to hear this Windy. The pain is over for her. Hope you find some comfort and rest.
  22. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my good Friend BILL. More memories to build, see you in the dirt.
  23. I can see Vitro or maybe a possible Akro for this marble but it is a lot different from Rics marble pictured earlier. Don does your aquamarines have cut lines or seams? The one Ric has, does not and it is a swirl type pattern not the more typical patch and ribbon pattern of aquamarines. The blue in Rics marble is different than most aquamarines. But there is always a few odd balls. But i have not seen many normal size, normal production run,Vitro without a seam or cut line. Interesting marble and a good thread.
  24. Nice show,Great Hotel, good location, well organized. I found almost everything that i went looking for, plus some usual extras. I hope to make this one again next year.
