Steph
I have one. (It's the magazine with one of the earliest Akro ads.) A gift from a friend.I've had copies of the ad, of course. Can't believe how moving seeing the actual magazine is. It's like visiting a religious shrine must be for some people. My mind is blown.
Al Oregon
Hey, it is paper that is over 100 years old. Mind blowing for US... Of course in Europe, that is only the equivalent of a week or so... However, it is still amazing to have marble related items that are that old (besdies the marbles themselves). Steph
The 1912 issue wasn't the only treasure in the mail. Here's December 1912 and March 1913. And here's the ad from the December issue, p. 35. About 1 1/8" tall by 2 1/4" wide.

akronmarbles
The earliest version of this ad that I have is from April 6th, 1911 - it appeared in The Youth's Companion. This was less than a month after the initial Akro trademark application was filed on March 23rd, 1911.
BuckEye
Brian, the marbles on Stephs ad are probably MFC from the description, correct?

lstmmrbls
Actually Grandpa Wilcox lived in Akron at the time these ads were run. He knew the difference but worried about future advertisement collectors . He was a great man but had a few neighbors that said he shouldn't care about anyone but himself. Steph
(yes, Craig, MFC's ..... the seeming reference to red onyx surely means American Cornelian)

stacyw
Funny stuff Galen! And likely some truth in it too - there probably was resistance to "imitation agates" from some.
