Chad G.
Hello Brothers & Sisters, Well had surgery today, no pain meds, before during or after, only the anesthetic to knock me out during the procedure. I swore off all opiates & pain killers last December & I'm stickin to it. A tough row to hoe but I was told as a child it builds character, if not that a sour face and a bad disposition. Surgery again next week so I'll drop in when I can. Alot of excellent posts' today w/ some really killer mibs for sure. I wish I could say this like a vacation but it's turning out to be a pain trip. My opinion pretty much sucks right now so see you all soon when I'm feeling a bit better and I've had my attitude adjustment, Marble on !!
Jeff54
Get better soon Chad. I've chronic RA for almost 40 year so, Pain is my game. The upside is,,The first thing Doctors offered and for several years continued was whatever pill I wanted. Yet I've resisted addiction as I witnessed too many addicts, legal and illegal, ruin, their lives. The sun will come up tomorrow. Get U some good morning UV (sunshine) as it causes natural Vit D and helps make your days better 🙂
William
I'm hopefull and praying you get the results your looking for, my friend. As with me, I know your looking forward to taking the off ramp off of that well traveled road!!! So, if I may ask, are you admitted until next weeks surgery or was this one as an outpatient then you go back for the second one? Totally cool if you don't want to disclose any details at the time, just curious. I'll check in frequently. You have constantly been there for me during my continuous medical adventures so expect the same. Prayers!👍 Oh, and by the way folks, don't let him fool you. He picked up that tough guy/no pain meds thing from me! 😉
Ric
When I was young, and often headed to the emergency room for one thing or another, my father always told me "a little pain never hurt anybody", which is mildly reassuring, but really isn't much help. You seem like a pretty tough character to me, so just hang in there man, this too shall pass. And best wishes for a quick resolution and recovery, Chad. I'll be pulling for you!

AS far as the pain meds and addiction thing goes it's more of a "I can't take opiates" because I have paralyzed gut" the meds will shut them down and that'll cause a whole new problem so looks like I'm having bullets for breakfast lunch and dinner for a while. I was on a number of pain meds for over 16 years due to a chronic back condition but realized it was a dead end, the meds no longer work after a time and are only a placebo. Last December I made the decision "no more" Guess William & I are the poster children for Winchester ammunition "a great part of a healthy diet" Mmm, a few of my favorites, I'm drooling already (literally) Yummy !!

Lol, I can see that poster now! No pain meds, that was my choice also after they sliced my neck open. Granted, being numb from the surgery itself on one side of my neck and chest aided that cause a little. Still, my medical team was and still is in awe of my lack of "medicinal assistance" regarding comfort. You will be that inspiration also, whether you want to be or not 😊 Stay cozy and don't try to jump into anything too quickly like I did! I remember my first week home back in May trying to yank a window open. Ended up yanking my upper body out of whack! Talk soon...gotta jump into some yardwork while it's not raining!
akroorka
Hold on Brother and always keep one eye opened. Yes I collect McCoy too. My cat Ragnar sends his best—better than I ever got 🦨. I got outbid by a buck on one of those Atmos---painfull for sure. I blew my marble budget for the rest of the year on a box---silly me! Oh well there are always those that you hold dear and are willing to go the distance for. We all miss you here and will welcome your return with open arms and I will hold a willingness to eat the shopping bag for you---good roughage though to keep the shoot flowing. Get you’re A#* healthy. I had to do a self inflicted butt flush because of pain pills—some memories never leave, I am with you on that--forever. I will keep you in my prayers and that is about all that I can do—except for---- Marbling –On!! I expect that you will do the same Chad.

Fire1981
Dang Chad! I hope somehow you can find something to take the edge off. When I broke my back I just wished it had been an arm or leg so I could at least watch it heal. Hold your sand and stay strong. 🔥
Fire1981
Go to a dispensary and get the strongest CBD salve they have and some Indica gummy bears. Trust me. This stuff really works. Give it a shot 🔥

Fire1981
Some Chemo patients smoke the most potent strain of Indica so they get the munchies. Food usually tastes like dirt to some of them. It allows them to eat good food even if it doesn’t taste that great. It helps them sleep too 🔥 1
William
If I would have needed it, there's a shop in Lacrosse, Wisconsin called "Treehuggers Coop"....they would have been hearing from me! As a patient and as a caregiver, I have seen what addiction can do. So CBD is an obvious, safe choice IMO....and it seems like every year, they keep adding more too the controlled substance list regarding narcotics. Patty has been on meds since breaking her neck in 2017 and slowly the meds she is on are making the list. The most recent ones too join the narcotics family that she takes is Gabapentin and Tramadol. Tramadol just got added last year. Great suggestion indeed, Rick 👍

Fire1981
I wanna see a picture of it after you pass it. My Buddy has 2 of his in a little tiny bottle. Who knew a speck of sand could take a person down. I thought they would be bigger. I bet it’s a Pelt Stone. 🔥

That's the problem it's to big to pass ( a bit bigger around than a pencil eraser) I'll dig around a bit and see if I can't find last years (bad memories)
Carowill
Chad, as a physician, I know that kidney stone pain is some of the worse pain anyone can experience! Hoping all goes well tomorrow and that you get major relief of your pain, and that your 6 mm stone becomes ancient history!
