Wise move, William!

Considering the amount of trees and branches that lay throughout this wooded area, indeed! Seems like every other step is taken stepping over branches and fallen trees...

There's a few spots where we have too pass going from one area too another where there is dead wood looking for an "excuse" too fall 😬

It's pretty eerie hearing all those trees and limbs creaking and rubbing when a little breeze blows through!

No dirt in the household sinks so a good hose down in for this nice group of saved Mason's 😊

Nice variety of sizes too!

Based on the Ball masons you found, I'd say that haul is pre-1925--do you have any jars that have "Improved" or "Special", rather than "Perfect"?

Sorry, a day late! Nice assortment once again..it sure was nice to find something other than game marbles! Too bad that big slag is missing chunks, but the sizable Pelt Rainbo is in nice shape. A few of the white ones appear opaque and the red ones might deserve another look.

Also hit the motherlode with agates, quartz and other nice rocks buried in a pile next to one of the buildings. There's one as big as a watermelon which will be a joy to carry for about 400 feet..a good day 👍

Well, I'm whooped. Just a small load today from more digging, I'll post them later. Just wanted to show off this huge agate I dug out of the ground alongside that building I mentioned. Man, I carried this thing at least 200 feet too the car! Talk about heavy!

I probably shouldn't have but I was not leaving it behind. These pictures simply do not do this beautiful piece justice at all.

It's easily the biggest formation of this kind that I have ever dug 😊👍

You know what they say on "Gold Diggers"--"Find the Agate--Find the Gold". You better get a metal detector out there. They are trying to open a gold mine in northern Wisconsin---so ya never know.

I thought sure that that soap dish was glass--nice shape and even cooler.

We found some more cool "treasures" digging today, but the most intriguing thing is this stone. It's definitely something different. You can see the size of it next to my hand. Not too terribly big, right? But it weighs close to 15 pounds on the scale!!!!

Here's some pics of all 4 sides and each end. Thoughts?

I will note that the last photo does show what I thought was metal, and it is. A magnet sticks....

interesting ....

I know, right? Those diamond shaped Indentations got my brain working overtime....and now the magnetic properties...iron ore maybe? Or dare I say meteorite? I don't think that's too crazy considering the wide variety of rock that was piled/buried. It was all brought in and put there. Collected in my opinion...

Some pretty cool specimens! As you can see, one piece was in the process of being polished. Another one also has what obviously appears as metallic properties. Couple of nice crystals and no idea on the reddish one. From what I have noted, these folks traveled so maybe southwestern in origin? Not aware of any stone like that in the midwest?
