bumblebee
My macro lens can do better with better lighting, but this is a good example for now. Just beware using a lens like this on your "mint" glass marbles. They're more damaged than you think. 😉 Notice the grind pattern of the facets varies because the marble was being turned. 1 1

Nice shots bumblebee. I will add a few of mine--it took about 100 shots. The facets are hard to get an image of under the best of circumstances. If you have never backlit a faceted Agate--do it and be rewarded. I have one "faceted" that I could have sworn that was mint/untouched until---backlit. I posted an old bruiser back lit and not---very cool!! Happy New Year bumblebee!! Marble--On!! 3
Fire1981
I just got a special Agate from a Marble Buddy here on the Board that I can add to my collection. Anytime you can snag one these do so. The hit marks and backlighting on these are always fun🔥 2

You guys are inspiring me to come up with some sort of custom case where the marble holes contain a bright LED light for backlighting. That would be fantastic!

Back in the day, Big John Ives had whole tables with such back lighting to display his Cairo marbles.
William
Gave it a shot with a couple of well played with Agates using my trusty old phone and a little backlighting 😊 4

I think taking a short video showing how light reflects on the facets, or rolling it to show wobbles might be a good way to show the facets? Stills don’t show much unless it is a large facet. William
Not marbles, but I wanted to share just a few of the raw agates that I have dug. Some I find out in the "wild", and others just from garnering permission to search private landscaping. Would love to one day have a good portion of my hand dug collection made into marbles 😊

Ric
@William Hey buddy, all you need is a good stone chisel and a grinding wheel. 😁

Don't think I could stand it if I busted one of them myself while working on em lol...
