Found this recently in a family members estate sale, couldn’t resist it. No idea who made it, or when but thinking Spanish origins. Missing 2 gems…

Still looking for the paperweight.. the round rock is obsidian, weathered most likely in a River. I was positive it was a meteorite when I found it at a garage sale🥴 the wall display is a plaster cast of the original discovery fossil. My grandfather got to name it, hence the “Northropi” in the name. found the sharks tooth display years ago, had to have it for $10.
-
Wasn’t aware they were composites, no more broken bats.
-
Nope, no way anytime. They both have the same issues, speaking from experience🤣
-
Love the sharks tooth! My grandfather was a geologist, spent many summers digging fossils. he taught at UNM from 1931 to 1968. He was the first civilian to access the trinity bomb site at White Sands to collect samples of “Trinitite”, also called Atomsite. The site’s sand fused into glass. He was supposed to use it for research and the University museum, but my grandmother got hold of a batch and made paperweights for the family. Encased it in resin. I’ll dig mine out and take a pic.

If they move bat production to China, where is the wood going to come from? will the Trump tariffs impact the business? hang in there William, I don’t think the fat lady is quite ready to sing…

The color combo on the first was yelling Vitro, maybe need to get my ears checked. (My wife thinks I should, she starts every conversation with “you’re not listening to me”…🤣🤣🤣)
-
Thinking: Vitro Peltier, or ?? Peltier John Deere the green on the 3rd is muddy but doesn’t photo the true color.

WV glass - Any Blenko collectors out there?
schmoozer replied to schmoozer's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Not getting the Blenko vibe on either piece… Blenko pontil marks are typically a flat slant surface, often with the edge sharp enough to cut you if not careful. -
She rarely buys pieces with broken daubers, unless they are very rare or cheap.
-
The broken dauber says older, no etch on the base says newer. So a hybrid, which occurs sometimes in bottles and decanters.

Wall display for your best mibs. Found one for golf balls at a thrift store for $20. Good for larger mibs. the Mirrored display is cool but a pain to clean. the oak cabinet is a Hamilton, found at a antique store for the price of a good pelt Superman. Holds roughly 150 5/8” per tray, so 1,200 total. Plus a good-sized drawer at the base for misc. these have plexiglass sliding covers https://www.ebay.com/itm/120410910529?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=8weAQEnpSrC&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=bXaTUpW8TnK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Has the style. They are typically etched on the base, very lightly. is there a dauber, or is the stopper base flat? if flat, could be modern using old molds.
-
That is a nice piece, I’d have bought it as well.👍

The wife loves Czech perfume bottles, especially the Vaseline. The Westmoreland “bathing beauty” is nice, several akro ashtrays below it also glow, as do some gearshift knobs. the big green bowl is our biggest UV piece. Items in the last pic are going to a depression glass show next month to find new homes.
-
I thought they were made while Vitro was in Anacortes, WA?
-
What size? Always my first question.

Thanks for the ID on the NLR! It was bugging me, yes on the Orca. Ric is right, there are 2 Vacors… the big blue bomber was hiding in the middle of a jar, didn’t see it. Same for the mica, which almost covers the cost of 2 jars. -

Saturday finds. 3 jars 1 is mostly Vitro cats, 1 is 4-color horseshoe. the purple slag looked ugly until I backlit it. “Heliotrope”! the Navarre is just over 1/2”, smallest I’ve found. the Mica is around 13/16”, mint celery green. can you spot the Vacor? also picked up some Blenko and depression glassware. We joined a local glass club, doing our first show on 2/25. Should be interesting.
