Yup, they called them "fried marbles" and they were a pretty big craft craze back in the 60s-70s.

Thanks, Tommy, it's a pretty old post but there's lots of great stuff in Steph's Study Hall and the Archives. I tried to show marbles that I thought were more distinctly "Sistersville Alleys". Marbles from this location are far less common than those from Pennsboro or St. Mary's since Alley only operated in Sistersville for about a year.

Yes, they are large and, better yet, they are "fat" - big chunky bananas. I really like a nice clear transparent glass, and I think the base glass used for the bananas is some of the best out there, crystal clear and bright, right up there with the base glass Vitro used for their Victories.

No UV or AV in mine. IMO it's the base glass along with the orange and white ribbons that distinguish the Antifreezes. They kind of look like they could be a common Rainbo but they are far from common.

Above is part of a post Charles W. made about these marbles back in 2005. According to him, it was a Peltier employee who gave them the "windshield" name.

I don't think they were exactly "errors", perhaps just fortuitous - the best ones I've seen are quite attractive.

I don't think it's Heaton, Cairo, or Champion. I'm on the fence between Alley and Ravenswood - leaning slightly toward Ravenswood.

Veiligglas is the only bell ringing for the yellow and white one in bubbly clear. And I don't think the Vitro is a Wedding Cake. It looks more like a conqueror-style to me, perhaps leaning toward a bullseye type. It's hard to tell from the single view, more views would be helpful.

It looks CAC to me too, Art, and I agree, polishing really messed up the pattern. I too can't believe it looks better now than it did with a little damage.

I think it's a Vienna Vitro from the Conqueror era. I would call it a DuLite but I am not sure if that fits Vitro's definition or not.
