That's a nice collection. What is that blue tray on the second shelf nestled into? Is it a WPA project?

Nice crop William, If those were within arms reach, I'd be eating them like apples - yummy!

lol, no leg-pulling here. Akro did not make swirls, on purpose anyway, which is probably why these were buried. But being a swirl collector, they were interesting to me. Having said that, some of Akro's marbles are definitely swirly - think of some of the egg-yolks you've seen.

I agree! There's lots of good stuff here. I'd say our first Thüringen Thursday was a great success!

I have no idea who made any of these. If you might, please let me know! I found them in a large collection I purchased many years ago. I don't think they are the best of examples, might be seconds or something?

Really nice marble, Allen, it's got so much depth it almost doesn't look round!

Nice marbles, and congratulations on the "Double A" find!

I don't generally hold on to Vacors, although I have saved a few that spoke to me. These might be a little older but I really don't know much about them. -
That's an awesome mib, Chad!

View of town Oberstein, bridge and Crag Church, and view of the agate and jasper gemstone polishing mill. Hand-colored steel engraving from Felix-Edouard Guerin-Meneville's Picturesque Dictionary of Natural History, Paris, 1834.

It's always cool to see cullet and matching marbles, and this is a great example - all the colors are there.

I am pretty sure it is inner painting (Chinese, nèihuà), where paint is applied to the inside of a hollow glass object (globe, bottle, etc.). As far as I know, it is a fairly common form of art in China.

This is so cool, Ron - my next birthday card? lol "Special Birthday Teas Served" - Oh boy, we're partying now! -
You're showing some super examples, Ron - I especially like the latticino in green glass. The horizontal swirl is awesome too, but is it German?
