  1. These are commonly referred to as Imperials - they are Asian. They are not hand-made.
  2. Welcome to The Marble Connection. You have a bunch of different types of Vintage marbles. The wooden box is full of common clays and maybe some stones. The second tub contains mostly brown and blue Bennigtons, but I also see a lined china in there. In the third group there are a variety of Akro Corkscrews, a few Vitros, Marble Kings, West Virginia Swirls, and others. The best marble might be that blue one on the right side with four red/yellow ribbons. That looks to be a Peltier Superboy or Superman. The next bunch is more clays, maybe some stones and a bigger lined china. The next tub is mostly Cat's eyes with a few Vitro Hybrid colored ones, and maybe a Master Marble or two. The last group is game marbles and a couple of purees (the transparent ones). I hope this helps get you started. If you want better info, you'll need to post fewer marbles at a time so we can more easily refer to them. There's also an old hand-made German lattice core in with the cat eye's.
  3. It would be helpful and you will get more responses if you put way fewer marbles (3-4) in a single post. It is just too hard to keep track of which is which and then refer to them easily in a response.

    Help

I thin you posted twice - it's an Alley Superman.

    More

Yes, mostly St. Mary's Alleys - the one you picked out is an Alley Superman. They're not easy to find without fractures.

    Navarre?

Thanks, Cheese, I can't imagine what else it could be - but then, I'm not that imaginative.

    I.D needed

I've got a couple that are over 1".

Yup, Cosmic Rainbows, and nice big ones!

    HG Akro?

I think you're right, Steph - Cornelian on the left and perhaps the "mulberry" variety on the right.
  10. Ric

    HG Akro?

. . . so a cornelian brick of some sort?
  11. Ric

    HG Akro?

They look a bit like bricks but they're not. What are they called?
  12. And a couple of 60 ct bags:
  13. Just figured I should post these Mountain Shooters here.
  14. There's nothing like the sun to bring out the best in a marble - those are nice ones!
  15. I think straight-on shots of the seams might help clear this up, because I'm still not seeing two same color ribbons on the same half of the marble. Although that top red ribbon looks like it was pushed up toward the other side by the fold. I thought the flip-flop was more like: LEFT | RIGHT red | white white | red or rotated to the other seam: white | red red | white
  16. Probably more like Ball or Mason. πŸ™‚
  17. Looks like the top insert to an old glass one pint jar - probably had a zinc lid.
  18. It is really cool - almost looks like the core is hollow. There is glass in there, right? lol. And I'll bet the edges are sharp, especially on the thin section!

I'm not positive, but I think Ron is referring to the JABO WVMC Run, which was in 2011. Here is a photo of a boxed set of the marbles from a recent @Columbusrockhound EBay Auction: Given that the diameter of the Quarter is just under 1", I'd guess the marbles are at least 7/8".
  20. JABO? It'd be a really weird one. While they did make a few marbles with seams, in some newer runs, they aren't that common. I don't think this is one of them.

If that's what it is, Ron, that might explain why I thought I saw one in your collection. I probably did, just not in an Alley case. lol

Another good question might be, how long have you had that marble? And what year was that JABO WV run?
  23. The second is Pelt. The first is likely "black" that's really very dense purple, and it looks more purple where the "black" and white meet- not that I can actually see this from the pics.πŸ™‚
