  1. Yes, a nice later style Vitro All Red
  2. I'd say it's a nice caged cat, and Rick is right, probably the Gladding Vitro era.
  3. It's a new one for me - nice, I like it! Any idea how it's played?
  4. Take a look at your Akros and Masters Tommy, and spin them end-over-end, the seams of Akro often follow one another like ) ) Masters are often more like ) > or even | >, if you get me drift. lol
  5. I'll second those sentiments, Tommy. This is Edna's @sissydear David Salazar I copied from an earlier post.
  6. Welcome. The first marble you show is a Vitro TriLite. In the next photo, there is an Akro Corkscrew (first marble top row) and next to it is of a Vitro Whitie (white with orange ribbons around it), and in the second line-up shot, there is a Viro Blackie (last marble bottom row; red with a black ribbons around it). Can you tell I like Vitros? lol
  7. I have a feeling this one is Akro.
  8. I don't know much china marbles but, in general, one thing to look for is paint over damage, it's not something that would have been done originally, IMO.
  9. I see a couple of stripes that don't terminate at a "seam" or a fold (second pic) so I'm having a tough time convincing myself it's a Pelt. Either way, it looks like a mashup of two globs.
  10. Couple of nice TriLites in the first group and I think that Whitie with gray ribbons in the second group (lower left) is less common - nice finds.

    Navarre?

You know, that thought did cross my mind but I just don't know enough about Barberton to have any real ideas.
  12. Nice marbles, Joep - the "bubble core" is cool. AV is sometimes a bit more chunky but most times is fine. If you get it in good light it will look like fine sparkles or glittering.
  13. Haha, too funny, Rick - I had that book when I was young! It wouldn't surprise me if it's still in a box around here somewhere - seriously, I about wore the pages off of it! And thanks for the well-wishes!
  14. I thought they looked unusually stiff in the commercials, almost like they were shrink-wrapped - there didn't appear to be any sag when he pulled them out of the boxes and laid them on the table.
  15. A lot of the cellophane ones were packaged by an outfit called Perfection Packaging in Shelburn IN, which closed a good many years ago. I ran into an old gent who had a lot of cello bags he got from his sister, who worked there. And a variety of marbles, including MK cat's eyes and Vitro Tiger Eyes have been dug at a dump associated with the site.
  16. Some of the multicolor ones can be pretty nice. They made nice pumkin-colored ones to.. I have even seen them with AV. And they are easily confused with Masters.
  17. These are commonly referred to as Imperials - they are Asian. They are not hand-made.
  18. Welcome to The Marble Connection. You have a bunch of different types of Vintage marbles. The wooden box is full of common clays and maybe some stones. The second tub contains mostly brown and blue Bennigtons, but I also see a lined china in there. In the third group there are a variety of Akro Corkscrews, a few Vitros, Marble Kings, West Virginia Swirls, and others. The best marble might be that blue one on the right side with four red/yellow ribbons. That looks to be a Peltier Superboy or Superman. The next bunch is more clays, maybe some stones and a bigger lined china. The next tub is mostly Cat's eyes with a few Vitro Hybrid colored ones, and maybe a Master Marble or two. The last group is game marbles and a couple of purees (the transparent ones). I hope this helps get you started. If you want better info, you'll need to post fewer marbles at a time so we can more easily refer to them. There's also an old hand-made German lattice core in with the cat eye's.
  19. It would be helpful and you will get more responses if you put way fewer marbles (3-4) in a single post. It is just too hard to keep track of which is which and then refer to them easily in a response.

    Help

I thin you posted twice - it's an Alley Superman.

    More

Yes, mostly St. Mary's Alleys - the one you picked out is an Alley Superman. They're not easy to find without fractures.

    Navarre?

Thanks, Cheese, I can't imagine what else it could be - but then, I'm not that imaginative.

I've got a couple that are over 1".

Yup, Cosmic Rainbows, and nice big ones!

    HG Akro?

I think you're right, Steph - Cornelian on the left and perhaps the "mulberry" variety on the right.
