  1. In Cohen's MFC book it mentions Milton Bradley as a customer. It doesnt mention what MFC supplied. Could this be what MFC supplied, even though they're clay not glass? Maybe Brian graham can supply some insight? http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Marble-Game-Milton-Bradley-/330539128340?pt=Marbles&hash=item4cf5aad614
  2. For cane the zig zag wouldnt be as hard. The butterfly wings on some and some that are inside first. Then at the pole. That may be interesting to replicate. for torch artists I wouldnt see much of a problem. I bet Rich could do a zig zag.
  3. Collectors I believe started calling these cane cut or handmade slags because for no better term they have same basic 2 colors like machinemade slags. Whether it be on an opaque base like the lightning strikes the manner of construction remains the same. Some exhibit the beautiful "butterfly" wings on one pole. These are in Illhavethat pics. Some do not but show the zig zag pattern. I have an 11/16 amethyst one that has been one of my fav handmades since I got it 8 yrs ago. I was struck immediately by the cold rolls and how they follow the pattern. I love the feel of the marble in my hands. If there was ever a blind person's marble this is it. John's also exhibits these also.
  4. Very nice. Interested in selling it? Please PM me. Thanks
  5. Thanks Al. Got to start making plans. Time off, look for cheap air.
  6. Does anybody know the dates for the summer Canton show?
  7. Two bits on the two bits. PCGH is notorious for not grading. They were not worried if the quarter was real but whether it was a real error happened at the mint and not after the fact.
  8. That's great for Burt. Derrick is a lock for lunch in Aug and I'm a maybe? Derrick you have it mixed up. Galen does drive crazy and I certainly talk too much.
  9. The winning bidder is what I call a Kmart shopper. They bid in incruements every couple minutes (blue light specials were every few minutes) until they are too high or they are on top. The high bid really wasnt that much of a snipe. They had 28 seconds left.
  10. They are not rare and concidered as a VERY minor error. Something has been done to the surface of that coin making it worth no more than melt.
  11. He was a good friend from my beginning. RIP Bo.
  12. Sorry Charles, not my mib. I will have to take pics on mine and use a resizing program. For reference its a pistacio green base, black aventurine and 1 small yellow ribbon.
  13. Here is another green/black. Not mine.
  14. Your new pics are better Dan. The colors are not as washed out. First I say akro, second I go for pelt. possible hg on it too.
  15. I dont think that is a coral. There are 3 different shades of corals from 3 different companies. At one time Les Jones had a pic of the 3 and from which company. Contrary to Galen and others, I think this is a CAC. The base is clear though with green filiaments inside making it appear green. in this pic second vertcal row, second one down is an example that I think Kevin has.
  16. Very outstanding mibs everyone. I like your #1 and your #3 Mikey. Very nice indeed. Here is my contribution.
  17. This more like the fourth time this box has been put up. They started at around 1500. Then 1200, 1000, 900 and now 500. In this case I would say the economy plays a very heavy influence and everybody knows how the economy is. A couple weeks ago when I saw Mike Johnson he said that a publisher wont even do the the book unlees there are prices. Lloyd that is the most beautiful pop box I have ever seen.
  18. There isnt a set price for them. They are pieces of oven brick that fell into the glass during manufacture. They can occur in any marble and are accidental. I have a double ingot akro sparkler with a piece in it.
  19. Sorry David. Values in books are the worst indicator. It is what makes people think their marbles are worth gold.
  20. They are also a different color now than when first made. Bakelite changes color over time. I used to know the original colors. I dont know if polishing makes them go back to original color. Polishing as in marbles is very frowned upon for bakelite.
