  1. Years ago one of the boards members (Buddy) had set fire to a box from Bo Stiff. Thinking the box was empty after getting the marble Bo sent him. Bo later called asking if he liked his extra gift. Buddy went back to the ash pile and found the extra marble. Slightly disfigured.
  2. I have a marble just like that cullet. Bought it Los Aangeles show in '08. Plain blue flames on one side. Turn it over. WOWSA. Lutz flammes. Sometimes it pays to turn the marble over in the display.
  3. Yes he is same. He relocated to Fla. Probably used all those ill gotten gains to fund the move. Another is Tammy's vintage. Him and her page after page after page and so on......
  4. The worth falls with WHO wants it. As Mark said what are YOU willing to give. Whether its a CAC or Alley. Worth can also be defined on WHO you got from. Was it a gift? Did it come from someone's collection you hold dear to your heart? Was it from a famous collector? All of these can reasons for worth to you but maybe not someone else.
  5. Bruce Lockhart passed away last night. He lost his battle after 3 years with brain cancer. People here on the west coast would have known him best. He wasnt active on the boards at all but that didnt keep him from creating contacts and friends from all over. Goodbye Bruce you will be missed.
  6. This could be his avocation. While on vacation. Thinking of pursuing another vocation.
  7. I want to see pump balls too.
  8. Persion turquoise do have 9's. Remember they are HG so they have to have 9. They are very faint. Hansel? After the last Akro dig produced all those HG marbles it was called into question on who made them. Akro or MFC? You sent me an email of a pic of your Persion box and called into question if they might actually be Akro. Are you sure Akro didnt make those in the Akro boxes? Akro copied MFC manufacture. In the opaques they both used same glass. Same process. They are going to look the same. So those in the Akro boxes could vey well be Akro. Do you have any way to tell the difference? Truely?
  9. OK, so now we have Grouper, Gropper and Grooper. Any other names they did?
  10. Time period of 1920's thru 1930's. They have a marble and paperweight in the same auction from the same time period. The glass is soft. Same type glass was used in clambroths. Here is another chinese marble and paperweight from same period.
  11. The polka dot thing is chinese. Probably about same time period as the marble and paperweight.
  12. They look more like Alley's than Akro, IMO.
  13. It is allowed to ask what vacor did. Vacor imitated at least 3 of pelts marbles. Vacor did golen rebels, tigers and blue panthers though they had different names fot the panthers and rebels. The golden rebel which is yellow base with red and black. For pelt I havent seen or heard of the black in a golden rebel always contain aventurine. They did tigers too. Except all of vacors do not contain avent. Some pelts do not contain avent and some do all zebras, tigers, wasps, bees do/do not contain avent. The blue panther that Jill Marie shows is the hardest to tell. Especially by pics.
  14. Those ship wreck marbles were sold by Del Morgan with Larry Castle doing the polishing. Some were sold polished and some sold unpolished. They sold a few conglomerates with marbles still stuck with ship debri, shells, sand etc. They didnt know which ship carried them in that there were 3 ships in the immediate area with the all 3 ship bells already long gone. Here is a pic of my conglomerate. It has an oxblood swirl with a faceted pontil. They found only a tiny amount of the oxbloods.
  15. 3. is a furnace. one of the most common. 5. probably alley.
  16. He means Blue Panther. Chuck needs to write all these names down.
  17. Your welcome Dani. Its one of the hardest pelts to find.
  18. They surely are. I agree. What is great that its almost impossible to have everything of one company. The collector of #14 has at least a couple that I want. I have a couple he wants. Ask any collector and you will find that is the way with everybody. Just so I dont completely hijack the thread. Here is a xmas tree where the aventurine is so thick its like its painted on.
  19. Nice slags. How did that mica get in the picture? Did it jump in there while your back was turned?
  20. Thanks for those kind compliments Chuck and Craig. Is this the pic your looking for I'llhavethat? It was in the pelt thread. These are owned by another well known collector. It has 2 sky blue and 2 darker bruiser blue. I dont see the in between smeared blue in the pic. Although the collector may have one.
  21. We must do something different her on west coast. We call that marble a BLUE PANTHER. There are 3 different types. All have little to no aventurine. The black is opaque. The base color of the type that Steph shows is baby blue. The base color of another is the same as the Bruisers but seperated ribbons and black opaque. The briusers are green when backlit. The last is a shade in between the two. The ribbons start solid but then tend toward smearing. Some of this last has the zig zag pattern seen on most Pelt slags. I know of one of this type that has a distinct "9". The pic here shows the three types in first vert row. The type that Steph shows is the middle one. Is Craig's the same but rainbow pattern? Possible. Craig's looks like maybe type 2 in base color. The 3rd in the pic.
  22. Thanks. I didnt think my be part of a watch fob. I had thought that might have been a cheap form of jewelry from early 20th cent. I had thought too as Semdot thought that maybe to somehow to preserve a favorite toy. Maybe was a relative's and they wanted something to remember them? From the pics the agate is in fairly good shape. The person that has it is a military buff. It took him 2 yrs to find it. Hopefully know more tomorrow when I see him.
  23. I have a chance to buy this agate necklace loop. Problem? Never seen one made for a necklace. Agate is 3/4, metal is gold. I still want to place it in Victorian era. Anyone seen another? How much its worth? Thanks for any input.
  24. Yes, Cohill. Sorry I dont have my book at present time.
