  1. Very, very nice,I have one like it that has 360 degree chips.I've always wondered what it would look like if it wasn't hammered,Thank you.
  2. It was mentioned in the ID section that we should try to explain why we think it is, what we think it is.I see a likeness in the way the red bleeds to brown in the early peltier marbles. In Galens case it's a Miller rebel that didn't get much black,my marble is a patriot. In both cases the red bled to brown. It looks like a pelt rebel to me and a great size too.Maybe a little aventurine???
  3. Pelt I think I have some like it,did you get it Galen?
  4. Good for you,a whole pelt collection! All very nice. The blue white and black NLR is especially nice
  5. It's your birthday? I'm shocked,how time flys
  6. I think the difference between new and vintage is simply the difference between a marble made for a collector or a marble made for a child to play with.I have both and enjoy them just the same.My preference is early machine made.I also like to collect vintage japanese pinch pontils.Contemps are not made to be played with, they are art pieces in my opinion.
  7. I like finding lots most, great marbles.I'm hoping to find some this weekend
  8. I got this one,it looks like a pelt rainbow? check out the bubbles in last pic.Nice marbles everyone. Don your marble looks Alley to me.
  9. Saw some polished Jabo's about 3-4 years back. They look drastically different than the original item. There were about a dozen of them ,all the same size and color I think. They were deep redish brown, kinda oxblood looking. No aventurine, very nice looking mibs.I thought to myself maybe one day I would have some of my jabo's polished, they did look good!
  10. Winnie, sorry you don't like the pick. It's an angry German mob that's going after the legendary Frankenstien monster .I thought of it in response to greg11 response that we should just go dig the place up.My feeble attempt at humor. But maybe it's to late for that.Did I mention I collect marbles too and find this thread very interesting as I have seen "exotics" myself, although very beautiful the colors seem a bit off to me,but I am not an expert in this area.Maybe that's why they call them "exotics"you know, introduced from abroad, foreign.Although they could be totally authentic.
  11. YES!!! LET'S GO GET THOSE MARBLES!!!
  12. They are beautiful,I've seen them in hand.
  13. These are not my marbles but this pic may help those who haven't seen them.
  14. I totally agree with you about issues. We should remember we are just marble collectors, some appreciate history, some make history but marble collectors all the same. From what I read on the board you are learning alot about marble making and enjoying it,that always makes things come out better.
  15. There is nothing common about a jewel quality mint vintage slag marble.Compared to a mint vintage slag the Jabo is more common, look on ebay. There are more Jabo's on ebay then there are mint vintage slags,I know cause I look every day and all I see are Jabo's.Collectors don't want to sell there mint vintage marbles, they sell jabo's instead, they gotta sell something, that's fine.Theres nothing common about a mint vintage slag.
  16. I would turn the guestion round and ask. Will a nice vintage mint slag accrue value in the years to come? The answer is yes! What was the first question?
  17. Thanks Steph I see it's not a realer or glassinix now, it's more of a bloody mary type like we discussed earlier. The textured area does not appear to be damage and the appearance of it makes me think it may have been an experimental alternative to aventurine. It sure is brilliant in the sun like aventurine. That's just my opinion.Anyone else have one of these or seen one? Thanks,Enough on this ,I don't want to hyjack the thread.
