Steve: Neat marbles and history! Is that a collie figure with kids? Thanks for showing. Don -
I thought I saw that sign at the relocated Vitro Agate plant when Ron and I accidentally went by it in 2003 when we were garage saling during our trip there. We were lost and came by the Vitro plant with gate shut. Don

Galen, we always called them boulders too. Never used for playing in rings, just a chase game occasionally. We also called them logrollers (which maybe a throwback to "lag roller" used for lagging to line to see who goes first maybe? Don

Hey Duffy - how old you think that sign was? Probably 1980s/1990s? Don

Yes the blue red and whites are VHTF - I had one as a kid - the one with hits. Don

So If You Had This Box Would You Hope To Replace The Marbles Someday?
Poplarhead replied to Steph's topic in Archives
Several years ago one of these large popeye stock boxes came up for sale that had the 3/4 th inch shooter isze in them, not a full box but maybe 20-25. Being shooters it went for about $6-$700 even partially full. Neat thing though is picture quality was not good and it did not show the bue, purple, yellow and white hybrids in box.... collector who bought the box showed me it to me and the hybrids found in it. Happy Retirement Ron! Watch out loose marbles - he's coming.... Come visit me. Don

Nice yoyos Kevin - I would work a trade for marbles if interested also. Hey dani as a kid around 1962 I saw a special set of Duncan jewel yoyos in a wooden box - 4 yoyos to the set. Has hubby ever seen one of these sets? I have never seen one advertised. This picture with four different colors reminded me of that set. Don

Dani: We want one of those music rooms but house is too small. We have thousands of albums and 45s also but they are hidden, boxed up or are in closets along with extra turntables. I have a small room that was built as a "mud room" between garage and living room that would like to put the albums in but it now houses the thousands of remaining comic books from my once large collection and a bunch of may marble boxes and loose marbles not in the marble room! The upstairs rooms have an eclectic mix of collectibles including Pezs, Barbies, toys, old baseball memorabilia, some marbles items, unusual comic items, games, old fishing items, autographed Science Fiction items and books, etc. The favorite rooms of visitors (museum was what one friend said...). Garage sales and flea markets 20 years ago used to be fun when you could get a Beatles album for a quarter ..... Don

I better not let Becky see the Master Tray or she may want to work a trade :-). Actually she has a couple in that that color already so I am safe!I don't even know where all my yo-yos are packed. We had a relative's young girl live with us for a year and half because her single mother went to Iraq so the yo-yos got packed up from that room along with marbles and other items. Now the wooden tops are in marble room............ Don

Nice yo-yos Dani - those mardi gras, confettis and Disney types are neat. I have not run across any locally in past. Heck down here old toys of any type are hard to get. My personal favorites are the Butteflys and tournament models. Don

Not sure where the orange coloring comes from as I have had about 25 of these No. 13 boxes over last 10 years and have a case of popsicle types and none are orange? And never have had any of the "fakes" although I saw one once for sale. Easy to tell difference. Don

Alright Steph, we need your research help on finding age of these boxes. I recenlty got these 2 MASTER GLASS (not Master Made) boxes and we are wondering age. Tried to research through Dudley Sims on one box who was extremely involved in Lions Club (rose to International President of Organization in 1958). Saw him noted as a 2nd VP of Lions Club in 1957. But could find no more on Lions Club affiliation. Dudley Sims lived from 1908 to 1983 and was owner of a dry goods (fabrics) store that was incorporated later "Piece Goods Shop Inc". Couldn't find much about Charlie Reimann. Maybe you can take further, this style box was sold in 1930s to 1941 under Master Made name and probably for a while under Master Glass ownership. Marbles in boxes are a later style of sunburst types than some of the #13 Master Made boxes I have. Don

The books show up regularly on Ebay and sell for $20-40 range. Dennis Webb's signature may help sell it as he is now deceased. This was best book in my opinion about marbles until recent American Machine-Made Marbles Book. I just got through reading my copy again and found a few tidbits I had forgot. Don

Those are the Bennett comics made in early 1990s. I sold my box of 12 for $12 years ago I believe. Don
