  1. They could be "peas" numbered balls used in various pool games. Just a guess, never saw any ivory ones before.
  2. I have one of those as well. Found in the wild in a jar. Was really excited til I saw the hole. Still like it though.
  3. I am still wondering about those as well. Thanks for the reminder Steph, I am going to try to locate those marbles. I know they are around here somewhere.
  4. Happy Birthday Steph! Hope you had a grand day.
  5. Looks like a fun day Ron. Bet the scouts really enjoyed themselves. And free marbles to boot!
  6. It was a gumball machine for me. It was a gift and I wanted to fill it with marbles. They were cheap and plentiful when I started back in the early 80's. I got it filled then started wondering what some of them were. I bought Bauman's book then one by Marlow Peterson and Larry Castle. I have been hooked ever since.
  7. Well, there goes my plan to whine about it being -6° here in SW Missouri this morning. However if this elicits any sympathy from you all, please send me a furnace marble to keep me warm!
  8. I believe it is actually the very rare "hole" Ringo found in his pocket in "Yellow Submarine". Should be worth thousands. LOL
  9. All this "Euro Swirl" talk has got me wanting one/many to admire in hand. I just don't see them much in SW Missouri. How common are they in general? Winnie, are they fairly common in Europe? Where did you find most of the ones you have. They are very very nice!
  10. Thanks Clyde, for taking the time to explain the differences. It really helps an old dummy like me to see the photos side by side.
  11. So, a Cub Scout with black is not a Galaxy? I saw this on ebay the other day and it sold for $75. Pretty steep for just a Cub Scout. What is the difference? Is the blue wrong or is it the wrong type of Pelt?
  12. Steph, the hole looks to be the same all the way through the marble. If there is a taper, it is too slight to notice. The ends of the hole are smooth like they had been fire polished or something. One end is slightly indented.
  13. I got this in a jar of common marbles from a flea market. When I first saw it I though it was a striped transparent of some sort. Now i think it is Czech. It is 5/8" I can't tell if it was made as a bead or drilled somehow. I don't know if it is old enough to be considered a trade bead.
  14. The episode is "Da Bronx Tale" episode #10. I too wonder how much of those shows are staged. I know someone who was on Pawn Stars and he told me that none of the people on the show were even in the store the first time he went in. They asked him to come back the next day and they were all there then with the film crew. As Bob said, it took hours to film a short segment.
  15. I may have posted this one here before. More matches.
  16. Merry Christmas to all! Hope you all find the marble of your dreams in your stocking on Christmas morning.
  17. Nice marbles and great colors! Thanks for posting those. Always nice to see what is going on in WV.
  18. Nice looking groups of marbles, Edna. Would love to see more of this run. Pat..
