  1. Did you polish that marble first, then put the "mop and glow" on it??? I doesn't look like you only used the wax stuff .... right ....? Maybe I am Confused... or dense... or maybe it's just too many years in California!!!! Ruth
  2. How about the boxes that are similar to the red one, only they say BUDDY? Were those also jobber boxes, and non Ravenswood? I always wondered if the BUDDY name was a reference to Ravenswood Buddy marbles, or just a coincidence. Ruth
  3. Love the Joseph's coat ... is it a core of color??? Ruth
  4. Yup! I saw that lot, too. It was really attractive to me, especially as I really like those Big Alleys, and often bid on lots with them. There are some nice looking mibs in that lot! Congrats on your bid! Ruth
  5. Yup. Thanks. Even better, the seller said she had some other "signed contemporary" marbles she was going to "throw in". So I'm eager to see the lot of them! Ruth
  6. I bought that lot on e-bay yesterday ... I was curious about a few of the marbles. I assume that big one is contemporary, but will gladly post more pictures when it arrives, since it has caught the attention of a number of us. I was quite happy to see someone start a thread about it. Many Thanks! Ruth
  7. I just received two "spotted dicks" just like the one posted (spot on each pole and four spots around). They came in a lot from England, and I was wondering what they were. There is also one a bit bigger that is black, with white splotches ... more shaped like rain drops or crescent moons. The spots on all three are rather messy both in placement and in shape. Not fine craftsmanship, but at least they have a name (be that as it may)! Thanks for posting the pics~ Ruth

  9. Wow ... I am so very sorry to hear about your loss. I met you at the Orange County show, and heard a bit about your Dad's character and how gracious he was. Glad you are part of our Southern California Marble world. Ruth
  10. I bought some from Prague ...love to sell some like the ones pictured here (like the ones sold by marblealan, that is), plus a few that have some transparent as well as opaque glass.. What is a marble collection with out 'em? You know you ALL need some, right? I will sell an assortment of 25 mibs for $12.00 plus actual shipping, what ever that comes out to be. Let me know. Thanks, Ruth
  11. I really like these marbles. REALLY! Nice work. Will you be at the Orange County show? Ruth
  12. Great JOB!!!! I voted. And for once we really CAN "vote early and often." I'll see what my teenager can do in terms of circulating this, too. More fun stuff! Ruth
  13. 15 ...that would be a bummer of a game ... but the other numbers are taken. Now I'll have to yell "DEFENSE" the whole game ...I'll probably get thrown out of the party! LOL Ruth
  14. Another thing to factor in: The quality of photo when a high priced marble is listed. In this case, it doesn't appear that the camera wasn't able to take good pics, as much as perhaps the seller didn't want the lighting or focus to be too clear. Of course I don't know if it was a fake or an original, but the photos make me suspicious. Ruth
  15. Nice looking! What size are the largest of the marbles shown in any or all of the entries above? Its hard to figure out ... even assuming all the guineas are pretty small... cuz they usually are, right? Are some of the bigger mibs shown up around an inch? It would be really helpful to see some sizes along with the pics. Thanks, Ruth
  16. recently there was another thread discussing what some might call popeye patch ... and someone referenced a whole bunch that went up for sale some time ago. I also recently received 7 or 8 or these in a lot of marbles that included a popeye ... Are they Akro? Maybe someone remembers what other thread mentioned these. Ruth
  17. Nice! I recommend she check out the site "ETSY". It is a site primarily for sellers of handmade stuff (and vintage stuff, too). I imagine her glass pieces would fit in well there, and not only would some people buy the pieces just to display, but others might want to buy to use in their projects. AND, a number of people sell marbles on that site as well, if you know anyone who might be interested in marbles... lol Ruth
  18. Yup ... I am amazed ... I would like to see some marbles in it though!
  19. OK, So where is "Over here" are you deployed? Possibly epoxying US quarters to the concrete in Iraq??? (That would be awesome.) Marble Buddy
  20. Nice!!! We got a good laugh out of that!!! Do you not have a marble or two suspended from your rear-view mirror, or epoxied to the dash!!!!!?????
  21. My daughter thinks we were the only home in America with a large dish of marbles on the Thanksgiving Table as a centerpiece ... I thought maybe someone out there can confirm you too, had marbles on the table today (we even had a wine glass with the new Jabo "cherry cordials" from the November Run!) Anyone? Happy Thanksgiving! Ruth
