  1. There are roughly three groups. 1) One group say the white and yellow/orange on the dark base makes a Champion Jr. 2) One group says "Champion Jr." was just the label on a small bag. There was also a larger bag which said Champion. And a lot of different Rainbos came in the bags and so there is no such thing as a Champion Jr. marble. They're all just Rainbos. 3) One group calls a lot of different marbles Champion Jrs. I never really figured out which all they call Champion Jrs, but let's say roughly that it's all the different kinds of marbles you would find in a Champion Jr. bag. Group #1 and Group #2 are the ones who usually get into an argument. In my mind I call yours a Champion Jr. but sometimes I won't say it out loud.
  2. (Yes, some people call it that. I like the name myself. Some people don't. Fights have broken out over it. No joke.)
  3. I would say Rainbo. Rather than multi-colored rainbo. Multi-colored rainbo is usually for the style which has six ribbons, usually in three colors.
  4. A surprise in my carrots. It gave me a scare when I reached in to pluck that odd-looking "weed". But it's pretty, isn't it.
  5. I remember that temperature. I don't think I could take it now. We're only in the 80's and I'm melting.

Yessir, 9 and tail! That is a handgathered marble. I think you have yourself a brick. Galen is in the neighborhood. @lstmmrbls, what do you think about that much black?

with that texture it does look modern and foreign ... but with the swirls I sure wanted it to be Mexican. I don't recognize a style name though. Closest I could come on the colors was this https://www.billes-en-tete.com/detail.php?id=262
  8. If vintage then I'm getting an Akro corkscrew impression.
  9. Any cutlines? Or are they swirls?
  10. Almost an inch. At that size the usual choices for a swirl are Jabo, Alley and Vacor. At the moment I'm leaning ..... um, I'm not allowed to say.

It does look bricky, doesn't it. A couple more views might help. Are there seams or cutlines? Or a nine-and-tail?
  12. Modern. Asian or Mexican. I wonder how popular they are with actual marble players. Seems they might irritate someone's knuckle.
  13. Hi, Gregory. Welcome. This would be a machine-made marble, so no pontil. My first impression is that it was made by Vacor de Mexico. Probably during this century. It could be a Scorpion as seen here: https://www.billes-en-tete.com/detail.php?id=119
  14. What Dave said! Better than a double ingot! (Quick note: double ingots are two marbles stuck together, so 9/16" would have to be two very small marbles.)
  15. That is a good question. I remember a fairly recent article about a marble company in Argentina which said that at one time there were at least four companies in that country. Wouldn't be surprised to learn there had once been more than one marble company in Mexico.

Interesting structure. More color than usual. Still the colors say Peltier Multicolor Rainbo to me.

    VITRO

So the left one is like half whitey and half conqueror? The right one seems "clearly" an All-Red. However, that is unusual coloring on the brown end, and if it has an iridescent finish, I would consider modern, because I think I have seen a red, white and brown modern one which looked like an All-Red.
  18. Junior Ice, a friend to many in the marble community, has passed away. https://www.grisellfuneralhomes.com/obituaries/Junior-Ice/
  19. Though 5/8" and not the usual 9/16" of "game marbles", it still would be hard to determine a maker for a marble which is almost a solid color. Are those long seams? Could be a Vitro.
  20. Interesting base glass. Bookmark this site: https://www.billes-en-tete.com/liste_billes.php
