  1. Looking at your marbles in the gallery, I do see some range in the ages. Mostly modern but some handmades which I presume are older. They make me think your smaller white and brown one in your first picture might be a vintage West Virginia swirl. Possibly an Alley. Thank you for thinking of donating ... there's a link on the homepage -- http://marbleconnection.com/ Is it showing up? Over on the right? Best to start a new thread with each group of marbles, coz it gets confusing otherwise. So I'll start a new thread with one group and take a stab at them. Then see where to go from there.
  2. Here is a thread discussing marble books .... http://marbleconnection.com/topic/23014-a-good-marble-book/ If I recall correctly, Mike was pleased with the book he chose to start with.
  3. Not handmade. The indentations are cold rolls. Where the molten glass was just a little too cool to be completely rounded on the rollers. Here's a GIF of the rollers in action
  4. Here we go .... the top left one definitely says Jabo or DAS to me, made in a special contract run after 2007. Seems a good chance of Jabo (or a related marble) on the rest. The bottom left stands out as potentially different. Need some of our Jabo experts in here.
  5. Nice reminder. I've just moved that thread to the marble friends memorial forum.
  6. What a sweet remembrance. Yes, I think of him often. I can't bring myself to get rid of a marble mailer he sent. I use it to store marbles in. He's still my "facebook friend". And thank you for thinking of the site.
  7. I just hope the winners are happy. Looks like two bidders dominating the four auctions, duking it out. But one of the winners has low feedback, so I guess it could have been a shill who was trying to get that other guy to go higher.
  8. Hi, David. Welcome. Do you see the paperclip attachment option at the lower left of the reply window? You can add pictures there, as long as they're small enough kilobytes. I think around 425 kb. Might be a little higher. Or you can choose another host such as pinterest and post the picture address and the software usually automatically turns it into a picture. You can also post in our gallery, and get the address from there to post in your threads.
  9. Sounds like a fantastic guy. Another wonderful project you picked.
  10. I'll go with Alley. As That1 notes, we expect the white to be more solid with CAC.
  11. Thanks. Yes, it does make 'em look flat ... trade off to see what's inside. Gosh, I do so like these.

    alley?

    If it's vintage, then it's Alley. 1940's.
  13. That's neat. My two guesses are Peltier and Master.
  14. We have seams! We have some interesting color coming through. I hadn't caught the two-toned look before in the purple. Need more size in general, but I can tell you it wouldn't help me. I think I "see" you marble pretty clearly with the combination of all the views and basically I do not know what it is. I can't remember ever seeing another one sufficiently similar to it.
  15. wowzer Someone is on a roll. Those WERE some pretty marbles though ... hope whoever got them wasn't hoping for vintage.
  16. They sneak up on you. Before you know it, you're hooked. Nice get.

    Alley?

Seems a good chance on top right and bottom left, but I never try to narrow down a transparent swirl.
