The top pix are pretty clear. Maybe it just doesn't like the close-up? I'll go with WV swirl on the one. But I don't recognize Vitro on the other, Scott, not with that seedy base. i'm intrigued by it, Sara.

With no seams, I'd also guess swirl (not Pelt) at 9 o'clock. So the question might be if it's a modern swirl or a vintage swirl. If vintage, then it goes to the WV swirl box. Another view might be nice on that one. I'd also like to see more of 7 o'clock.

Are you sure about the aventurine? I think you're right about Jabo. The classics, from 1991 through 2007, weren't very busy ... at least not the smaller swirls. The boulders could get pretty wild. But I'm not familiar with aventurine from that period. Does the pink happen to glow under a blacklight?

Marble books are like Lay's potato chips ... nobody can eat just one

American Machine-Made Marbles covers a lot of history and has a fair amount of photos. Popular American Marbles by the same authors has a lot of photographs -- was disappointing to some because of how the publisher did the photos -- yet has still received a good word recently. And Everett Grist's Big Book of Marbles, the recent edition co-authored by Lloyd Huffer, has some nice sections of marble photos identified by company. ^^ that's my off-the-cuff summary of this Mike's thread from a little while ago: http://marbleconnection.com/topic/23014-a-good-marble-book The list of names has been growing rapidly recently so they haven't all made their ways into books.

"Transparent Swirl" .. in the WV Swirl family I wouldn't try to name a specific maker.
