  1. Hi. The top compartment and the bottom compartment both look like modern marbles from Asia. Called Imperial because they were distributed by the Imperial Toy Company. Also, the compartment with the boulders in it looks like all or mostly modern. Also, the compartment on the right side of the second row from the top. In the other compartments there appear to be some older marbles. For instance, the lefthand compartment on the second row has some Vitro Blackies in it. And I see at least one Peltier Rainbows in the long compartment on the third row. And there could be some West Virginia swirls in that compartment. I'm not sure about the middle compartment on the third row but it has some possibilities.
  2. You're welcome, Survivor sister!
  3. Popcorn. Plain air-popped popcorn. No butter or salt. Odd but okay. The smell reminds me of feeding the cows and pigs on my uncle's farm, but that's a happy memory. So what the hay.
  4. Thank you for sharing the obituary and the nice memory, and for finding this thread again. I need to remember to move this thread to the Marble Friends Memorial in a little while.
  5. Tonight is Survivor premiere and the Big Brother finale. Tomorrow is Heroes Reborn. Friday is Amazing Race. And that will be my TV line-up for the fall. Oh wait, I'll also be watching The Great British Baking Show and Dr. Who on PBS.
  6. Onyx was white ribbon in transparent base, usually colored, base. Slag were the first "onyx". So onyx corkscrews are the corkscrew version of slags.

  8. Me too neither. Well, I'm not 100% sure I haven't. I tried one time. But I didn't get confirmation that it went through.
  9. What's an emoji! Must learn emoji! Peeeeeeezzzzzzzzuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhh!
  10. Oh those are sooooo pretty. I am covetous.

And still I wouldn't know a cherry-ade if it bit me on the nose.

A few years later real onyx sellers would win a false advertising suit against glass "onyx" sellers. But I guess up until then folks didn't worry so much about being questioned if they tried to make their glass sound like stone.

Beautiful. And strange. And I don't know.

I've pondered that one before also and I can't imagine why they thought that claim would fly.

Yikes. Yeah, I think I'd have it with Vitro. And I'd second-guessing myself also, but yeah .... going with Vitro.

That question is above my pay grade. I just handle the paperwork.
  17. No problem! For what it's worth, both pics 1 and 4 are considered seams, [edit: even if the line is smooth]. Good for us to clear that up.
  18. Of course you are correct. And I'm pretty sure different marbles came in the Ringer boxes. Just saying that if there was ever a marble which fit the collector's Ringer description, Alex's marble does.
  19. Looks like two seams. Photos 1 and 4 are different parts of the marble, right? So it looks like we're back to the original mystery.
  20. Some of the times it hurts the most are when I'm trying to sleep. But now I use a pillow to cushion it. And hubby doesn't tease me anymore about giving him too little room (I was letting that arm dangle off the bed sometimes to give him -- and the cat -- more room). But now my arm is important enough to take up bed space, so hopefully the waiting won't be so bad. I had wondered if it was the dangling which had injured it, but I recently planted it in a door jamb at just the perfect angle to remind me of other times I did so, and it hurt so bad. I'm guessing it was one of the door jamb incidents which did it in.

Akro claimed that Cornelians came in "assorted sizes". How long Akro made them is another question. I think their run was three years or less.
  22. It matches the requirements for a "Ringer". A Ringer is a mysterious marble since we're not aware of Akro ever making quite that style on purpose. But a Ringer is a corkscrew and it is like a Popeye, but with white and one other color in a clear base. (A Popeye has white and two other colors in a clear base.)
