  1. Now the left marble looks like an Alley. A St. Marys Alley, made in the 40's. I feel good about that guess. Still not sure about the marble on the right, but the cutline on this view does look like an Akro:
  2. mmmmmmmmmmm, corn meallllllllllll
  3. I'm back. Reformat was a success. I forgot to save my bookmarks. Ooops.
  4. I don't know what I'm doing. If I don't come back, that's what did me in. Y'all have fun now!

    What Is This?

Let me do some more research. Still four days left. No one act in haste.
  6. #1 could be an unusual Vitro. How many yellow patches on #2? If only one, then I'm stumped. If two yellow patches, then I'll put in another tentative Marble King. If one yellow patch and one patch of some other color then I understand a Vitro guess on it, but would still question it based on the shape of the yellow. Sticking with Marble King on #4 and Vitro Conqueror on #3. Not gonna place any bets on the Marble King for #4, but it looks familiar to me. If I recall correctly, I got similar marbles in a Marble King horseshoe blister pack.
  7. These are most definitely dug. I think there was another thread I wanted to post these in, but now I don't remember which one it was. My head is a bit foggy. For all I know there's another odd akro thread already going and I should merge this into that one.
  8. I think I decided that this was a dug Akro. I'm not sure anyone else ever agreed with me but I think I saw something like it in someone else's definitely dug group. Amber in hand but a haze of white filaments made themselves more prominent in the photo. The red was concentrated in one view and a thin film at another angle. I think the structure qualified as "buttcrack".
  9. Check out that opalescence. That's what I'm talkin' about.
  10. Does have some transitional feel ... the glass quality and the little corky motion visible in the first view fit ... just not seeing quite enough of the structure I want to see. Um, could it be an actual cork?
  11. Oh, did I forget to say welcome?! Hi! And Welcome. I like your avatar.
  12. Patch is an okay description for least #2,3 and 4. Probably okay for #1 also. #3 is a Vitro Conqueror, from the 1940's. #4 might be a somewhat newer Marble King. (Possibly from the 70's, maybe later.) More views could help. (And larger if possible.)
  13. More views please (and a little larger if possible). I think you're on the right track with the middle two. Some would not call it an Indian Blanket because they would say it has the wrong pattern. However, many would agree that it is an Indian Blanket. In this view, the left marble looks like a Vacor -- a newer marble, from Mexico.
  14. The glass looks older to me. But I don't have a good guess. (The thin red ribbon looks like something I've seen on Alleys -- so that's part of why it looks older to me.)
  15. It was perfect! I shared it on Facebook. ♥
  16. Here's a link. http://www.ebay.com/itm/171864757729
  17. Thanks, Ron. Champions make more sense now with the Alleys removed from the mix. A lot of commonality in the pictures you showed. A softness in the swirls. keeperthread
  18. Thanks, everyone. I do take comfort in Brother knowing he was loved. He showed to the very end how much he trusted us and loved us back. ♥
  19. Only in the Southern Hemisphere? My husband came home a couple of nights ago and said there was something particularly bright above the moon. I guess it could have just been one of the usual planets but he doesn't usually find those remarkable enough to comment on. I didn't get to see it. When I went out, I couldn't even find the moon. Not sure where in town hubby was when he saw it. Guess it wasn't at our house.
  20. My buddy is gone. He ate well yesterday. Then he slept between us last night. We slept lightly to see if he needed anything. He had a heart attack while using the litter box this morning. He lasted long enough for me to call my husband in. Hubby said a beautiful goodbye. But we've really been saying goodbye for several days now. Now only two cats to spoil -- except they're going on a diet to trim what they put on eating all those leftovers.
