  1. They're happening more now, right? Intentionally, yes?
  2. Would be fun for people to pose marbles from different makers in a way which shows of the ends of the streams. "Were their mechanisms designed to keep shear marks as non-visible as possible?" I'm going to guess that this wasn't a point of concern.
  3. Me? I have a number of them but I don't know what questions to ask. You go!
  4. Thanks for the pix. Always a good time for Master pix. However, the bag in this patent has cardboard on the back. Part of Israel's idea was that the cardboard support could also be used for advertising. https://www.google.com/patents/US2085365
  5. First picture -- two Tiger Eyes .... and the green and white and clear marble might be Akro. I don't know a Vitro name for it. Second picture. I think all three of those are Tiger Eyes. The pattern on the one on the right is a little nonstandard but I think still Tiger Eye. Third picture -- I think Akro on the blue and white. I don't know what blue with a little orange ring would be called. Is it a Bull's Eye variant? Not sure on the marble on the right.
  6. So would the busy little one still be called a coral? Are the Ravenswoods called corals?
  7. Great. That would also have been my guess for the busy little one.
  8. Thanks Darla. Maybe I have one Champion.
  9. I was thinking likely Alley for three of them. I guess I should have put those three in a column, eh? ... the two in front of the maybe-Vitro ... and the one on the right of the maybe-Vitro
  10. Thanks! Those look like a match for the two on the right.
  11. Mostly swirls here. A couple of other marbles said they wanted to join in because they had orangey shades. Don't blame me. I'm just doing what they said. That orangey and black one on the center left made me think Pelt but the ribbon structure looks like a swirl. The back left one has distinct seams ... at 90 degrees from each other. On the back row second from the left, that marble has seams too. A peachy V on one side and lots of green the other. Did Vitro make a "coral"? In the front, on the left, the swirl looks almost red ... but not quite. A tad less red in hand than in the pic, I think. What shade would you call the ones on the right? Still coral? Brown? (A little darker in hand than in the pic.)
  12. Here we go! From Smitty's 2007 Philly album.
  13. I once saw a picture which was said to be Eric Estrada at a marble show, but then someone else made it sound like it was a joke and was really someone else. But maybe it really was him. Here's a picture of him with some marble jewelry: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/156922368237009546/
  14. Greg, I think the man who brought us A Christmas Story was a collector. Bob Clark.
  15. Thanks Al (and Bob). I changed your bitmap to a jpeg, Al. Hope that was okay.

    Masters?

Yeah, mine is pretty thready too. I was upset that my old camera was unable to pick up the detail. I should try again with my new camera. But if enough got through for you to see, that's what matters.
  17. Louise Brooks http://louisebrookssociety.blogspot.com/2012/10/cool-pic-of-day-louise-brooks-shoots.html (okay, I don't really recognize the name but someone here might )
  18. This is where I usually let Mike, Ann and Galen debate. Will be interesting to have you in the mix now.
