  1. Here's the marble of Tom's I was remembering. The aventurine didn't come through in the photo as much as I would have hoped, but it came with a box, which is why it stood out in my memory. Here are a couple more photos from Tom which I think might be the same marble and some of its companions, and then the box it came in. (Tom broke the box up into multiple photos across at least two threads.)
  2. Here's a swirl which Pete had listed in his catalog at LOM a couple of years back. Listed in the Champion section. I THINK I have seen a two-seam aventurine pictured straight from a Master box. If I did, I think it was at LOM. I think it was posted by someone named Tom. Not sure if I saved the photo. Might take some work to find it but I will give it a shot.
  3. Finally looking at the vids. Have to rewire my computer everytime I wanna do that. I don't read so good sometimes. Thought you were gonna be talking about the blizzards of this year. Those were crazy. I'm in Wisconsin. We were fine. But I had to worry about my family in Texas. Looking at the vids now. hey that first one's not a vid, it's a slide show. that's a lotta wotta .....
  4. My guess would also have been contemp. It's sorta a dark mib. Larger brighter pix could help, maybe? Maybe one of the pontil? If anyone else is leaning toward contemp but if no one recognizes it for sure, you might give it a try at glasswizards.yuku.com.

    Akro Heaven

I'm pinning this one because I just love this box so much. (Not my box! pix were donated) Here's another thread I posted at the same time with a later sample case, If You Can Handle A Little More Akro. I don't want to pin it because the pinned section is starting to get quite long. I'll settle for a link. Actually there were quite a few more cool box photos and some ads which I was privileged to post around the same time, many Akro but also some others. They might be in the archives, or in the study hall. If not in one or the other, I will move them when I next come across them. :-)
  6. That is so cool . . . that it made it out of the factory inside a bag. Mostly I think of double ingots as dug marbles. In theory I knew they're not always dug. Pretty sure I've seen at least one foreign double ingot cat's eye so it had to be in a package. But it seems very rare to me. So wow. That is way cool.
  7. thank you lots a stuff to catch up on. thanks for the encouragement.
  8. "edgy" and "passionate": okay "abusive": not okay Dancing around the line: your choice but this thread has two reports and might be closed soon
  9. @ Bruce, hmmmm, excuse me while I adjust my paradigm. @ Jack, those are soooooo cute sitting next to that penny, so bright and colorful and cute!
  10. I have some mystery pee wees of my own. Got my 2nd Jumpo Marblo box tonight. Here's my first box, half the patches are peewees, half a tad over 1/2". The Jumpo Marblo set was a Rosenthal product. Rosenthal was a jobber, so who knows where they got the mibs from. Berry Pink was an executive with them, and had Alley and Pelt connections, so that might be a clue, but who knows?
  11. The clearie wee wees I got in 1976 would not have been Alley. Pretty sure about that. I have also bought amber wee wees in Champion packaging, within the last 10 years. Didn't mention that earlier because there's a good chance the bag was backfilled.
  12. I got a buncha clearies of many sizes from wee wee to shooter for Christmas in 1976. I've been under the impression that they came in a Champ Bicentennial bag. Could be wrong about that. But that's my best guess for the wee wee clearies - Champ.
  13. No prob! Glad we could help one way or the other!
  14. Good question. (could it be chromium instead?)
  15. Might be as simple as which side is up which determines which side gets the most glitter? Might be more jumbled and angled on the top side just because it's on the top side? Just brainstorming on my part. Here's a patent which you might like. Green-colored opal glass. It's about how to avoid getting aventurine. However, on the way to describing the process it notes that makers of "art ware" sometimes try on purpose to get aventurine.
  16. If you have any suggestions for threads to move to archives, please let me know. You could post them here, or send them by PM. Thanks in advance for your help. Today for example, I'm archiving Joe Street's show reports.
  17. Here's a Gladding-Vitro item. Ebay pix, I think? (really wide pic, sorry I should break it up into separate ones but don't have a good photo editor right now)
  18. I think people might have been. Only you hid 'em in the ID section. I was also a little confused by them being in five different posts. But you were having fun! like you said! I'll remove them though if you want.
  19. Mike specializes in irony. I think he was saying that's not what happened. . . . but maybe I'm wrong! Or maybe you're being ironical. I'm so turned around. I think I better chuck it in for the night. Been a long day.
  20. The Leighton thread is on page 3. Sorry for being in such a hurry to move it. It was a compliment to the thread.
  21. Are any threads in the archives which you need to have in general chat? I thought I moved back the ones which I moved over this afternoon.
  22. Not sure what you mean about the Bennington thread not going to the top. Did you post in it before or after I'd archived it? In any case, I have moved it back to the main area now. About the rest, I got a little gung ho tonight. I hadn't archived in awhile, so I just dove right in. Started too close to the front. In future, I'll also wait for a thread to be at least a month old before I move it over to the archives. Also, I'll gladly take suggestions on what to archive.
  23. I'm sorry. I hadn't archived in awhile so I just got started back this afternoon. I started a little too close to the front. I'll move move that Leighton one back over, and try to wait until something is at least a month old before I move it to the archives. Who decides? I'd gladly take suggestions. Otherwise, yep, I've been the one who decides.
