  1. Thanks BJ. you oughta see it in hand. lol
  2. Thanks all! I shall have a few more Master questions over the next coupla days. I'll put them in the ID section. Please check it out.
  3. Thanks Steve. I was thinking of the Joker II run. But I'm pretty sure it's not a Jabo in any case. It came in a group of interesting older marbles. P.s., Thanks Mike. I think that's what happened in the Joker II run also. It "went black".
  4. Heres a pic: The aventurine ribbon is backwards s-shaped, and keeps on one side of the marble. There is a sort of ribbon of clear glass which meets up with either end of the aventurine ribbon. Not any really obvious seams but I'm still seeing it closer to a patch and/or ribbon type of marble than to a swirl, say.
  5. Who besides Pelt in the 1920's/1930's and Jabo in 2008 made marbles with in your face sparkling black aventurine? Thanks!
  6. Nice new banner. I like the gallery pix across the top of the home page. Cool to see mibs first thing, and more people will be aware of the gallery now. Looks like there is an option to embed videos now. It didn't work for me when I tried it, but my computer might be blocking the image. I've had problems viewing videos on other sites also.
  7. . Dancing CATS??? nuh uh no way. THAT's unnatural!
  8. Only a newbie for handmades but my gut says those ribbons look too even. (I only saw the one Alan shows.)
  9. These are from a Master box which sold on ebay awhile ago. What do you call this style of marble? Patch, Sunburst, later Sunburst, something else, or nothing except "Master"? Thanks.
  10. What do collectors call the style in the preceding post? Patch? Sunburst? Later Sunburst? something else? Nothing other than "Master"? (p.s. I asked in another thread. Answer is sunbursts.)
  11. Some mib funnies Some more http://comics.com/search/?Search=marbles&PerPage=10 Anyone have any keepers? I have some from old newspapers but not a lot of standouts.
  12. p.s., what is the "New Dusseldorf, Germany" connection?
  13. I've posted this site before, http://schusserland.de/. But before they seemed to be under construction. David's post sent me over to look at them again. Lotsa pages of marbles for sale now. Marble book Marble Store They have Vacors, maybe including some not distributed in the U.S. They also have Chinese marbles. I keep hoping I'll find some of the bullet molds for sale there, since they're shown on one of the site's pages. Still haven't seen them listed but there are some other interesting ones. Examples: (yeah we've seen Clownfish before but I think they need more exposure :-)
  14. Interesting. Thanks David. I can't get enough of those. Informationwise, I mean! lol. I don't personally have one. Some new ones: (click to enlarge) (source)
  15. the seller knew. he got the straight dope on the marble at LOM. thanked us for the information. listed it as a Christensen.
  16. The Bogards included 4-vane cats eyes. Some not so well-formed. But some very nicely formed.
  17. David's Bogard article: C.E. Bogard & Sons Cats Eye Marbles A couple of pix from there for quick ref: The base in David's black ones seems a little blue. Don't know if that's reflection or shadow or the glass. Here's a pic Galen posted with less tinted bases on the black. p.s., amber is also a possibility in Bogard bases.
  18. For No Particular Reason I'm "announcing" coz I told someone I would! LOL. I'm happy just to doodle on my own. Fractals and flowers are likely to be planted soon. But if'n you wanna vent about something and want it seen by marble people but don't want it at a marble board, that's one option. p.s., I don't want no stinking minion. If I had a minion I'd go to the doctor double quick and get it removed. For No Particular Reason doesn't have a philosophy. If anyone wants to get on a soap box there that's okay. But if someone singes my delicate little feelings, well, I don't know what I'll do. I won't delete posts though. Worst case, I'll turn them invisible. So if for example anyone who's been on the internets longer than Al Gore wants to say something unkind, well, fine. It'll stay on the record. Their words. Their IPs. Their M.O. Happy 4th of July. A special thanks to our Founding Fathers for their courage and honor. And to our service men and women for keeping us free. May they never have cause to regret how we use the freedoms they make possible.
  19. Those were in a shop connected with the KOG company? That's pretty darn funny. lolol
  20. Gary, they wouldn't have been MK's or cat's eyes because of the timeline. 1919 was too early. January 1919 could make those the very last of MFC's old stock. MFC quit making marbles in 1917 but still had old inventory to sell through 1918. And of course Akro was making marbles at the time. Could American snowflakes have been white slags?
  21. Yah, I wondered about ceramics. Something bigger and better than plain clays. John's mibs: (and his auctions are here in case you wanna make some of them yours in the next 2 days and 3 hours. :-)
