  1. It looks exactly like a JABO 2011 Spring Tankwash to me.
  2. How is it possible we are just finding out about a 60 year old machine made marble company now? This is really cool news to me. How many other marble factories are still out there hiding in the world?
  3. It's a Fall 2000 JABO and many examples of that particular marble display a similar partial cork like swirl.
  4. The shooters in question are JABOs from the later 90s.
  5. What are your thoughts about when the first Vacor swirls were made? I believe early Vacors are still one of the major mysteries in our hobby.
  6. How many 3/4" marbles are typically made in an hour? I have no clue. Did they tell you to expect a lot more than 5 boxes? There isn't anything written about that in the Ebay ads at all. When I read the Ebay listings it reads like a full share buy in person would only be getting the marbles made during one hour of the run and wouldn't get any from the rest of the run. Is that what you were expecting or did you have a different agreement than the Ebay listing? I read all of Dare's listings you linked to and he said in all of them that some of the Cancer colors would be used. It didn't say all of them would be used anywhere that I could find. It sucks things didn't go the way you expected them to go.
  7. It looks just exactly like a nice Champion New Old Fashioned to me, but I don't know my CACs well enough. Are there CACs just like that too?
  8. This Rainbow silver oxblood type is another example of a style of JABO I like very much. It's JABO's version of an auger with oxblood horsehair. The pair of purple Odysseys are fantastic for their JABO style flames incorporated with unique JABO shades of colors. I am celebrating 3 years in the hobby today and am still as gaga for JABOs as I was 3 years ago upon discovering them.
  9. I like this What A Tribute 1" JABO because of the way the colors blend and it incorporates a lutz swirl (and possibly a little bit of JABO oxblood). It does all of this within the classic JABO single fold structure and yet the very simple pattern of the fold is what makes it so cool. Stacked blended JABOs like this are one of the many reasons I really like JABOs.
  10. There have already been 2 more D.A.S. runs since the crystal supermen (Test 4). Might be a new "it" you haven't had a chance to see yet.
  11. Double Dork (Double D.A.S. corkscrew?)...Jorkscrews and Smorkscrews? ying yang ramshead chevron
  12. I love the Mega marbles Fiestas too. The ones with thick bold ribbons are great marbles.
  13. Here are a few of the marbles Dave made at JABO with superman type colors. Some with transparent glass and some without. 2003, a carnival glass one from 2003, What a Tribute, and Encore. There are some excellent Encores out there in the superman colors.
  14. Here are some of the brighter marbles from the test that I think are fantastic. Do most of the Peltier ramshead/chevron pattern marbles have similar indentations?
  15. There are some additional Vitro cats with a light tan base and I have seen a Vaseline glass cat before too. I don't know if Vaseline glass technically qualifies as a colored base, but I think it does.
  16. Galen-I have always known you were the real deal. You are in it for the marbles. There are different marbles in my keepers box, but whatever price I paid for each one was worth it to me.
  17. I still have trouble grasping the financial part that seems to drive so many people involved with marbles. Does the money drive most people involved with marbles? I have fallen head over heels in love with collecting machine made marbles. Are most other people involved with marbles really just trying to make money by selling them? I hope there are many other people out there who actually like the marbles themselves and are not just concerned with whether they are making a good investment. Everybody says to buy what you like and spend what they are worth to you...does anybody else heed the advice? If you do then you can never go wrong. The people who bought hundreds of JERK marbles at $5 bucks apiece and are now upset that other people are buying the same marbles for less money-what were they going to do with them? The investors were the jokers who had the marbles made. Are the marbles they bought not worth the $5 apiece to them anymore? They didn't heed the two recommendations in the marble world then. Does anybody recommend investing in marbles as a way to make a lot of money?
  18. In 2007, 25 pound boxes of Classic JABOs were being sold for $20. The 5/8" marbles cost less than 1 cent each. The Classic 3/4" marbles were selling for 2 cents each before the contract runs. The 1" marbles were selling for a whopping 4 cents each in 2007. I don't think JABO prices have declined. Contract run type cases sell for about $300 per 20/25 pounds these days if you can get them or choose to be part of a run.
  19. Take a look at what Columbusrockhound gets for his JABOs. He routinely gets over $100 for individual contract run JABOs from different buyers. I don't mean that he gets that for every one, but it seems like he gets that for at least one weekly.
