    MK?

Almost every manufacturer either started making or made game marbles at some point, I wasn't wise to it either until I got into a discussion with Ron or Chuck G., I can't remember who ?? But it was a surprise to me as well. Makes sense, gaming was at some point very popular so be it the marble companies followed suit. Ah now I remember, the discussion was over this very marble, still can't remember with who though ?? maybe both ?? oldtimers kickin in.

A so named Alley "monochrome" gaming marble with the unmistakable Alley flame like construction (9/16ths I believe ??) a very bright light and careful scrutiny pays sometimes !! I also found a few Flinties and 3 Akro Bricks looking through half a 5 gallon bucket of someone else's throwaways. I filled up many of my Aunts and Uncles Chinese checkers & Aggravation game boards, so passing on the joy of marbles !! I kept them all in case someone else needed any replacements (including yours truly) I always give everything a 2nd, 3rd or 4th look & then still save it for at least a little while.
  5. Ah well, at least I wasn't the only no show, sometimes it seems life just gets in the way, especially when I make plans !!
  6. Hope this helps Chris !! Vacor is made in Mexico and distributed world wide under a few different distributor names. At over 12,000,000 (twelve million) marbles a day. LINK : https://www.billes-en-tete.com/liste_billes.php?lang=en LINK : https://www.billes-en-tete.com/detail.php?id=217
  7. Wish I could have made it to the show this year Brad, I have high hopes for next year !! Nice mibs Brother.
  8. I don't believe it has an actual core, it appears to be dark purple jelly ribbons making it appear so. Jelly ribbons are uncommon a solid jelly core is very uncommon. Jelly i.e. able to see through it, as looking through jello.
  9. I brought backup this time !! Where's the rest of me mibs ?????
  10. It took a "mega" while to find ones this clean, I'm still lookin !!
  11. Cleanest Indian I have, Maglite w/ ghost core Smore clean ones, yes the glass does seem to be softer but nothing like a clambroth, I think every time I look at mine another flake of glass falls off !
  12. The ones in your link say "Hand Made" & have multi colored ribbons, although I can't really fathom 1 ton let alone 5 tons being "Handmade". The marble pictured above is machine made, no pontil or torch marks. The Vacor's pictured below where made at least 30mm (1.181") maybe 50 mm (1.968") all machine made. The Atmosphere marbles were the only handmades Vacor put out to my knowledge ?? I think the out of round your seeing is from the camera angle used, since it appears to be out of round and elongated the same way in every picture no matter the position of the marble. I was given several Vacor over 1.25" every one is visually out of round, the only one that comes close is a smaller 1 &11/16ths" Michelangelo. LINK : https://www.billes-en-tete.com/liste_billes.php?lang=en Chinese marble link : A pic of the 1 & 11/16ths" Michelangelo, almost in round but not quite, note the heavy orange peel effect surface, every large Vacor I have has at least a little orange peel on the surface if not the entire surface. These appear to be almost identical to the Chinese ones you gave the link to, I can see the orange peel on the surface of the big one pictured here also. Nevertheless it "could" be Chinese ?? All the big modern machine mades seem to exhibit the orange peel surface to some extent, I was just adding up the factors pointing to Vacor as the manufacture. Only familiar with the Chinese "Parachute" & other Chinese torchmades like the ones they fill the new Akro boxes with, smaller but they are handmade, eliminating the chance of an orange peel surface.
  13. You and me both, I had hundreds of Handmades prior to 09 when I sold my 22 year collection due to financial reasons. Not a fun time watching that many years of collecting go down the drain in a matter of months. Making up for lost time now (I guess??) Most I can afford is maybe a $1.00 scratch off, been so long I don't even know what if they still have em that small anymore or not ??
  14. Well I finally took some of a few Vitro I have, not sure on the names, I'm a die hard Pelt Head, I just kept what I liked. I do have a 3/4" buttermilk on the way and a couple more. Names are good I'm not very familiar with Vitro so bear with me. This is an opal, I should have backlit it, there's also a little AV. in the green I know what this is thanks to Ric. A trilite w/ half transparent clear face & half black, there's a pink ribbon next to the yellow I failed to capture. Yet another retake in the future. I know 3 or 4 of these are blackline but believe their called "Yellow Jackets" more specifically because of the yellow patch on one end ?? A few I know nothing about, just that their Vitro This one has the rich ""buttermilk" color on one end I just couldn't get the lighting right !! ???? ????? I believe the one on the right is what's called a "Tigers eye ?? Not sure of the one on the left. I should have posted these to I/D but ??
  15. Guess I could cot the hole any size, the top is just some thick black foam rubber I had lying around, it worked well, probably fit 5 or 6 5/8ths on top ?? Maybe I'll give er a try and see what I come up with ??
  16. I agree with Ric, trapped air bubble in the center & orange peel, both common to but not exclusively "Vacor"
  17. An alternating light stand I adapted for some of my larger German handmades. This ones right at 1 & 13/16ths. Almost like Christmas in July when I get 4 or 5 of these going at once, gotta watch it though it can get expensive, AAA batteries go fast.
  18. Akro to me as well !! The seams are off for Master !! This pic is the one that convinced me of Akro !!
  19. Guess I need to look through some of my old drawers Ric, I doubt I'd find any of those but you never know ??
