You may have a point there Art, the more I look the less Veiligglas I see, the colors are right but the av, excess colorant or whatever is off for Veiligglas. On second look I'm gonna say all 4 are "Jabo" (maybe ??)

Let's get our Claws out on this subject
Chad G. replied to akroorka's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
The seam indicates to me these might be from a mold ?? The "nub" must serve some purpose ?? Maybe the glass was pushed onto the "nub" hot while held in a mold ?? Dunno really, I've seen the piano stools w/ actual sulphides and other Germans as well as the held in place versions like yours but never as large, usually around an inch, give or take, I have pix of a few sets on stools around here somewhere, I'll try and drudge them up. Well I found the pix, a 4 legged piano stool w claw feet and 4 clear molded mibs just like the ones you have but only 1" there on my flip phone which doesn't have a chip in it and refuses to send an Email, time to skip it out across the water, all the pix I have on it are worthless just like the phone, th guy at the store said you couldn't give him a phone like that now I knw why , I'll hang on to it but not for long !!!!! -
The 3 bigger ones are definitely the same manufacture, looks like Veiligglas to me ?? Here's the odd man out, the smallest, looks like Jabo to me ?? Do you have a size on them ??

My best guess is ??????????????????????????? an inside out ?? It does , kinda look vacor but ?? None of the traits ?? I'm on the fence ... Time ta wait this one out ... ... More butter please ... Mmm, that's better I might be here a while ??

The "Score!" thread. Post your exciting finds here...

Thanks Brad, I have to put together a bunch of sets and see exactly what I have, one thing that I only have one piece left on is a set of interior panel w/ oxblood. You've seen the pix of the plates, saucers, cups, sugar bowl pitcher and lid I think all I have left is the creamer itself on that set, believe me it took a while for the rest, I remember passing on a lemonade ox set or two several years back (Duh) only abbot $250.00 then. Now you can barely touch a lone pitcher w/ a lid for less than 175.00 "if you can find it ??" I'll start rummaging around and see exactly what I have & need "Thanks again" -

(L) to (R) Vitro, Marble king, Alley, sorry I'll get some closer pics later (if I remember ??) A little closer & a different view, the biggest and the only one w/ fleas (of course) is the Akro limeade cork. A couple have some microscopic pocket wear but that's it !! Not bad for less than .50 a mib. My favorite is the little tiny Pelt MCS, less than 9/16ths" -

Yeah Buddy !! Killer boards& mibs, I don't even have one red mica I see a piece of the "Holy Grail" hiding right in the middle in plain sight. At least you have one, that's a start !! -

Ah !! finally, a good day today. Akroware & some mibs. A mixed bag, Akro, Pelt, Mk, a few handmades, I'm happy. The Akroware is spotless & I needed every piece to complete a few other sets I have, only $35 for all the Akroware & $20 for the mibs so yes a great day 😎 -
You're Welcome, trying to throw in at least a little knowledge in w/ my pics, I hope ??

These aren't mine, but a couple shots of some harder to find orangeade patches An old picture I know & already posted but pertinent to this post. A group of ades w 2 cherry ades a limeade, a lemonade and a rarely seen white patch ade. Guess the top (R) cherry some would consider a vaseline base instead of an ade base. Still uv reactive, if not more so w/ a slightly different color glow.

Hmm ?? maybe as Steph said a couple more shots of the second mib, I'm not seeing anything that points to a Vacor for me, something's a little off for a Rooster ?? Maybe if you would, a couple more of the red one, maybe one w/ a touch of backlighting ??

Bagged marbles from a Swedish country store!
Chad G. replied to Chris Parson's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I vacuum seal & bubble wrap all my marble shipments & tape the exterior of the box, you could throw the box out of a car doing 60 and the marbles would still be untouched. The least you can expect from the postal service is a 10 foot drop from one conveyor to the other. Long ago in the early 2000's I shipped some pretty valuable mibs that got damaged, I paid for them and took as a lesson learned. I always treat things I'm mailing as if they were coming to me, so sometimes a bit of overkill but better safe than sorry. It only takes a few minutes to package them so no damage occurs or can occur, unless a semi runs them over !! I'm so glad they reimbursed you Chris, honesty has prevailed. I'm sure the seller will be more attentive next time something glass goes out, I would hope ?? -
Some nice Veiligglas Amsterdam Examples
Chad G. replied to Mojo's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Beauties !! -
Some banded carnelians and at least 1 dyed, the center white banded agate is exactly .50" a "pee-wee" for size comparison. Some have facets and some don't !! So some modern machine ground and some handmade, but all are authentic stone agates.

-
Some more bigger sized Hand Mades, not quite at the 2" mark but still oversize. I can't for the life of me figure out what they used these for, if anything ?? I guess we'll never know.

Nice score !!

What a battle beast !!!

"Happy Thüringen Thursday" I'm still not sure what they used these big daddies' for but it certainly wasn't play, mantle pieces maybe ?? With all 4 marbles having the earlier type construction characteristics of faceted pontils on one end and on the other a melted pigtail one things for sure they did little else but look at these monstrosities for 150 years or better !!

Sweeet memories, thanks for the pix Bill !!
